Is there a trick to installing the F'ng Dipstick?!

Just as the title states! I was able to install the 2 inch ARH headers no problem on jack stands! is there a trick to putting the dipstick back in?!?!? I F'd with this thing longer that it took me to put the headers on! Is there a pic out there that shows where this thing goes into the oil pan? I cannot see anything from above or below... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It helps if the header is still loose from the car and I believe it slides in behind the second primary from the front. I had to have my little brother hold a flashlight from underneath so I could see the hole on the bottom.

When taking mine out yesterday, I took pains to figure out how to get it in & out as it was far and away the hardest part of the install when I did my headers. If you start it out, between the first two pipes and rotate it clockwise, it will s ake right I to place. I did it a few times to get it down before pulling the heads.

yep, it has to go in straight so you gotta bend the rest of the tube to get this to happen, now that mine is bent correctly it is only a few seconds to wiggle in and put the holding bolt on. So start the bending.....

You didn't have to take off the big aluminum flat pan!?
Did you do the install from top or bottom?

I did take off the large pan under the car... The drivers side one came right up thru the bottom once i removed the steering shaft! Easy!!! The passenger side was a tad more of a challenge... I actually removed the passenger valve cover and it went in pretty easy after that!

mine is pretty much bent up like a pigs tail when I removed it! I just need to be able to see the damn hole and I should be good... I have an extension with a small mirror on the end that might help me trying to find it from underneath. what a ridiculous design!

It’s not too bad if the headers loose.

I remember dropping the tube close by the hole and then went under and got it on the hole from the bottom. Then went back on top and pushed it the rest of the way in.

It can be done without bending the tube or loosening anything. I got so pissed when i did my headers that i had to walk away a few times. Fast fwd a year & I'm tearing my car apart again. Remembering what a pita the dipstick was, i unbolted it first and practiced removing and installing it before unbolting the headers. When you work out the technique for removing the tube, then do everything in reverse, it is really easy to install the tube. The trick for me will be remembering the process a month from now when I'm putting everything back together...

As everyone else said, with the header loose it (should) slip in place. No pun intended, but its nice to see someone else having the same stupid problems I always seem to have lol. Never fails its always the little things that are the most PITA.
