HuJass, the dealer put mine on when I bought the car. I've ran it since. Dunno if it makes any difference. You wouldn't be willing to take a pic of your intake since you aren't running the 1le separator?

When I had ordered my car, I spent some hours on the forum. Ran across discussions on catch cans, which in knew nothing about. I ended up having a catch can, before I had a car to put it on. Bought one for the dirty and clean side. It caught 7 ounces in 5018 miles, from going down the TB. I seem to have the same driving habits as the OP! My car is my DD and plan on keeping it for a long time.
The plastic one that came with our cars is for the clean side.

I ended up getting RX a couple of years ago. The Elite cans look like a good choice also.

Elite E2-X Dual Catch Can with Clean Side Separator is the ultimate catch can solution IMO.

This has been covered a bunch, and any engine with a PCV valve/system should have a catch can IMO.
However, the 1LE stock separator is only the clean side, the dirty side is where the majority of the oil vapor comes from. The 1LE clean side + RX or Elite dirty side will be a good combo. I currently only have a dirty side Elite, nothing on the clean side

I mean..... you don't NEED a catch can. Is it good preventative maintenance with these cars, I think so.
I bought an Elite E2 after getting excessive amounts of knock retard. Oil was all over the throttle body and in my intake manifold and showing on my plugs.

Why not talk about cold air intake brands too and get it all out of our system in 1 thread?Yes, I have a catch can and love it. Why blow that crap back into my intake?

The tremendous HP benefits of NPP should also be tackled during this CAI / Catch Can discussion.

I'm not here. My 2 questions are not on here. I've read all about cans and understand the benefits of having 1. Just wondering why Chevy hasn't fix the problem if there is one.

Jim, you can take this for what it is worth. The last two Gen 4 cars we had before we bought the 1LE (a '93 Z/28 and an '01 WS6) both ran for about 200K miles with no mechanical issues related to the engine. The '93 had an LT engine (which at 89K was used to develop the NOS system that we sold) and the 01' of course had an LS engine. Neither of these vehicles had catch cans on them. GM has not fixed the problem because non direct injected engines (like the LS engines in the Gen 5 Camaros) do not have a need for catch cans. That is not the case for direct injected engines (like the V6 engines in the Gen 5 cars). With the Gen 6 LT V8 being direct injected, I believe it needs a catch can. I am not sure if one is provided stock.

Fair enough. What then is the purpose of the factory 1LE oil seperator? Seems to me, GM developed it for a reason. That reason can (and will be) Improved on in my case. Wasn't trying to start a huge CC war. Seen enough of them, lol. Just putting up a pic of my results wit oem oil seperator so others can have more info to decide if they want a CC.
