2020 Camaro order, when to expect?

Trying to figure out when to place the order for the new car.

If order banks open this week or next week sometime, when would you expect a 2020 SS 1LE to be delivered to Texas?

Ideally I would like to see the car first part of September or later as that gives me some time to get ready for the car, sell the one I have an so on.

Dealer is saying 6-8 weeks, possibly sooner so should I wait til mid July?

You can place the order now. I was able to place preliminary orders yesterday.

Production for 2020 starts 7/22/19. If it's built the first week, you can probably expect the car anywhere from 15-30 days after that, possibly longer. It can depend on what you're ordering as well. If it's a 1LE, it takes longer because they have to install the hood wrap after the car is produced. Shipping out of Michigan right now is absolutely awful. It's taking a lot longer to get cars from there due to rail car shortages, according to GM.

Cars coming to our area are dropped off at the rail yard in Mesquite. That usually takes about 5-7 days once the car is actually shipped by rail. Give it another 3-5 days for it to arrive at the dealership.

I would order asap just in case there's a delay. That way you're not getting your car later than you want. Some dealers will hold the car for you until you're ready to take delivery. I've done that several times for customers that had cars come in early.

Well looks like the Rally green is on constraint so it won't be anytime soon.

Is there a way to tell which options are "constrained"?

Mine was built 3/9/20 it’s still at 4300. How long can one stay at 4300? Frustrating because the weather is getting better here.

The reason it's at 4300 right now is most likely due to not having enough cars to fill a shipping load. We also have a 1LE at 4300 and it's been stuck there since before the Covid stoppage.

If they don't have enough cars heading to the same area, they won't ship them until they can fill up rail cars or transports.

Thanks for the info. I guess I shouldn’t get to frustrated because we just had more snow last night. I thought we were done for the season.

I’m getting very excited for it to arrive. My first car was a 81 Z28 Dark Blue/ silver stripes and interior. Sold it in early 90’s. Thus will be the first Camaro I’ve owned since I sold it. Owned several vehicles since but all Trucks, SUVs, practice cars.

No Rally Green according to Becky. I’m out. Not going to risk receiving a car in my 3rd favorite color JIT for winter...
