If no one is interested, the block will be beefed up and back in the car.
So bent rod but no bearing damage, oil and filter clean?

If yes, that's always impressive to me. Good rods bend before breaking, saving a lot of $ on repairs.

Do you know of other reports of ZL1 rods bending, what power level caused this?

Oil was just as clean as the day I put it in. Literally has idle time and 10 track passes on it. No damage other than the bent rod and bottom of the piston. Haven’t heard of any other bent rods.

Some good looking piston reliefs. Used to run Wiseco in my race boat engines.

Alrighty. So i went to the dyno 2 weeks ago. It made 977hp 806tq on 17.4lbs. Running One Ethanol R fuel. Im on 5 less lbs of boost but only 58hp less because of the higher compression. Running a 3.5 upper and 9.55 lower. Very happy with the power. So heres a quick rundown of the new parts:
Wiseco Pistons 4.070 bore -2cc dome
Oliver Speedway Series rods
Johnson link bar lifters
Manton Series 5 Push rods
ARP main studs
New Oil pump
Had to re-use the stock crank and got .020 cut off the mains. #2 & #3 journals were rough. I assembled everything and am very happy. Gonna go down to a 3.25 upper when the DMS re-releases the 10 rib conversion as they have stopped selling them right now. The dyno sheet isnt smooth and I figured out after, I needed to close the gap on the plugs more.

Way to go. That’s impressive numbers for moderate boost and pulley combo

Way to go, I ran 27 thou on the plugs and some guys run all the way down to 22 thou. Good numbers on the lower boost. Congrats.

What’s going on. Ive been pretty quiet this year. Corona crap put a damper on racing for a while. But a little summary of what’s been going on. So last week I completed Raceweek 2.0 in Oklahoma and Kansas. Drove the camaro from NY to Tulsa. 1300+ miles of race week and back home. Total of 4060 miles. If I ever had any doubt aabout my engine building skills, they are all gone lol. Competed in the 10.0 class again because of no cage. Needed to take some power out so I went with a 7.795 lower pulley which dropped me to 11.5lbs of boost. I thought that would be perfect. Long story short, it was too much and went an average of 10.19 for the week. Now on to the cool stuff! I’ve always wanted a TT v8. A base Huron kit popped up forsale in June, I got it. Turbos (6871 aircooled comps) came a day before I left for race week. As soon as We returned, started the tear down. Almost finished. Just a warning for anyone attempting this install, It’s not easy. Be prepared to curse a lot. Also upgraded from the Holley HP to a dominator. I know I skipped a lot but didn’t want to type a novel. Just wanted to post a small update. Here are some pics from race week and the turbo install
