Header coating?

I am about to install the ARH long system on my ZL1 and I have seen conflicting reports about heat and the starter... What is your opinion about coating these headers? This car is a weekend driver in the warmer months with 4-5 trips to the drag strip. Just wondering what every one thinks about this.

I'm in south Texas. Heat is a killer here. I just ordered a set of Kooks headers and they are getting ceramic coated.

It's my opinion that this is a good idea and will help with temps under the hood. I even thought about header wrapping instead of the coating as I have seen with other cars that this helps more with temps. I didnt go that route due to conflicting opinions concerning wraps being a problem with headers or that they soak up oil and possible fires could happen. I went coated to play it safe.

Coating works for sure. Do it if you got the money.

What size did you go with? 1-7/8's or the 2in? I have the 1-7/8's and had mine coated and having no issues with the starter here in Fla.

I went with the 2 inch ones... not sure what future mods will be so i went overkill on them! I did find a local guy that will ceramic coat them for $300. Since its not a bunch of money I am gonna go ahead and get them done!

agreed! That's a small price to pay compared to what those headers cost!

Coat all of it. I have race deck flooring in my garage. The floor tends to buckle up a bit under the car from the heat of the cats when I first pull it in. I have a fan that blows air under the car and prevents it. After coating the entire system, I noticed less movement of the floor if I didn’t use the fan. Besides it looking really cool it, will help keep the heat in check quite a bit.
