Prices are going to drop during the approach to winter months, that's inevitable. You have less buyers in the winter regions buying, and more sellers in those same places selling, like the OP. So yeah, demand will drop, and so will the prices. However, considering the lack of production in 2021, the unknown for 2022 as of yet, and the inevitable death of the ICE Camaro forthcoming, there's a good probability that values will remain high come Spring, and possibly far beyond that. Especially on more unique models like 1LE and ZL1.

Traditionally, the values drop off heading into winter because of a combination of things:

- New model year vehicles are hitting dealer lots
- Cars "have a birthday" (they're now a model year older)
- Winter demand drops off for anything that isn't 4x4

This year, the first item on that list isn't really happening. So, while the demand does still drop off, so does the inventory level overall. With few to no new cars available, buyers will be turning to used models. Companies that sell nationally can move a northern car to a southern buyer fairly easily and will take advantage of having more overall "control" over used inventory against demand in areas where the cars are still being sought.

Hard to predict exactly what will happen -this- year.

When I looked on autotrader a few weeks ago I noticed the prices dropping, especially the places like Carvana and vRoom I noticed price reductions on the Camaro from their inflated prices.

With these price drops and how they were paying top dollar makes me wonder how they can turn a profit with insurance, storage, freight, employees, etc. Probably they have in house financing at higher interest rates for people with poor credit.

Later in the fall when there are more new models on the lot it would be foolish to buy used from them if they have high prices.

I'd imagine that accounting rules and laws are a big part of how they "show a profit". Since they actually own the vehicle for a period, I'm sure they can depreciate it against their taxes and such so that, when they eventually sell it, everything ends up working out to show a profit.

Neither Carvana nor Vroom do their own financing in-house. They turn cars around fast, and they also move them from one market to another to get the best resale price. With demand being what it is, and likely continue to be, they won't be sitting on those high dollar purchases for long enough to lose much when the prices start to fall again.

Values are falling on them right now because there is only about 4-5 more weeks you can use them in 1/2 the country. Happens every year on that type of car. The dealers won’t be flooded with anything any time soon

probably why back in '16 I got a pretty good deal on the genesis coupe I bought in november in green bay
bought it, drove it home and stuck it in the garage until april. it had 12 miles on it when I pulled it out for the spring.

I attempted to order a 2022 2SS 1LE and was told by my dealer that the factory isn't accepting orders right now and may not be until February, with deliveries not happening until possibly as late July/August. If that's the case, the used market may stay strong for a while yet.

If true, that’s either breaking news, only for 1LEs, or just for Canada because they just accepted my order for a 2SS in the last week or so.

Has the factory accepted the order or just your dealer? My dealer had no issue with taking my order but were up front that it wouldn't get entered into the system for production possibly for months. This is not a small time dealer either. Now keep in mind I may not be explaining this properly since I don't know all the intricacies of how this works. And it's possible it's a Canadian issue only. They may be putting us at the bottom of the list due to the relatively small volume sold here.

If that really was the case there was no reason for GM to even produce a 2022 Camaro then. It would be a MEGA collectors item with only a few hundred produced so far. By next year it would be 2023 time.

Others are ordering 22s. Sounds like some BS. A Camaro in Canada would be useless to buy right now with winter coming.

Factory has accepted and I have a TPW of 10/18 - it's still at status 3000 so that may shift a bit, but it's made it past "Accepted by Chevrolet" and to the "Accepted by Production Control" phase. If they're being honest with you, it sounds like they either don't expect an allocation any time soon, or they don't plan to use one on a Camaro.
