If you have someone lightly accelerate the motor while you are under the hood you should be able to see/hear if you have an exhaust leak. I would definitely check that since you did not use the supplied gaskets.

Mine ticks, was sorta loud, added cam got a little louder! Asked the cam installer if that was normal he said yes! He stated the LS motors are also called "sewing machine motors" that is why they tick and they all do it to some degree!
Just the noise that comes along with the Headers. They are not as thick of metal as the stock ones!

When I had mine, l was paranoid thinking I had leaks and valve failure and when I step on it amplified the noise, at first when I got the headers it was not as laud but then, I began paying more attention and was thinking the worst, Aldo I hated the dam drone, but now I miss the loud tone, guess its hard to have both

Headers have a distinctive sound, kind've like a tik, but different. I had LT's on the goat and have 'em on the Z, both make the same sound, especially with a lumpy cam. A guy in an S2000 was chatting with me at a light while I was in the Z, but before the cam swap. He could tell that I had long tubes, just by hearing that "sound".

Header noise
It is normal, every LS engine that I have listen to has had the old tick, tack, clack sound and the headers amplify the sound. I have an LS3 and I notice the noise more when the engine is hot and at idle also, cruising through town next to a high sidewalk will amplify the noise.
Hope this helps. |

Yes, you will hear a lot more engine noise (especially in the 2k-3k rpm range) after getting long tubes.
Whatever noise your engine natually makes, the headers just magnify it. |

why do some peoples think you shouldn't use the factory header gasket
It is one of the best gasket you can use and always should use factory gm gasket. Isn't kooks gasket almost the same design as factory? |

I installed LT headers and I also started hearing ticking sound under the hood. Seems like it's coming from the headers gaskets area on both sides. I also can hear it getting louder as I give it gas. Is this something to worry about or is it how the engine sounds with headers?
