To say someone is privileged if they are a college student and able to afford an SS is probably putting it mildly. It's nice to see people like Sammy who are humble enough to admit how lucky they are, so good on you, dude. I was very middle class and I was still lucky to be able to own our families old, beat up Geo Spectrum (a stick, though!) as my first car while I was briefly in college prior to the military.

I was kind of in my senior year (24ish) when I got my 2SS, felt pretty lucky tbh, but at the same time humbled. And no, it wasn't completely self bought, I did put in a decent chunk of my own $$ though and help from parents of course!. I lived in a college town (corvallis) home to Oregon state university, the school was full of 19-20 year olds driving Ferraris, Lamborghinis, mustangs, vipers, corvettes etc etc. There were definitely a big chunk of people who were jealous/hated/shouted out comments like "nice daddy's car" etc etc. Basically I witnessed both sorts of attention, good and bad!

Some shots of my totaled ex in our beautiful campus! Waldo hall was a perfect background, specially since it resembles harry potterish architecture!

To be fair, I wouldn't immediately call someone privileged if they have an SS in College. It largely depends on how they obtained it. If it was handed to them by mommy and daddy, yeah.. privileged - BUT if they're atleast willing to be respectful about it and acknowledge that it was a hand down and are not a douche or spoiled about it.. ..then sure.. ..let them have it.. ..however there are those folks who worked two jobs and saved up then bought their SS with their own money.. ..why condemn them? This is America, we have the right to buy what we like and that is what gives us motivation and drive.. ..passion.. Now I will say, you also need to be willing to cover your other expenses, like student loans...

Purchased my Camaro as a Senior in college back in March of this year at 20 years old. Definitely was a very humbling but also rewarding experience. I had been saving up any money I could get through birthdays and little side jobs since I was in elementary school. Of course, the side jobs and working summers didn't start until high school lol. Also did well enough in high school to have a nearly full ride to college, so no loans were required. Was able to save up enough by my senior year in college to put half down on my 2SS 1LE and get approved for financing the rest with my job offer I had post-graduation!
While I didn't ask for any help on the purchase of the vehicle, my parents did throw in a small amount as a way to congratulate me for the purchase and staying disciplined with my money throughout my childhood. I'm extremely thankful for them instilling great financial/working knowledge in me from a young age and I know that I wouldn't be where I'm at today without them. I'm also extremely thankful for them letting me drive our family's 2001 Excursion (7.3L 4x4 Limited for all the diesel guys on here lol) since high school contingent on the fact that I funded all maintenance and related bills for the vehicle (Insurance, fuel, etc.). Again, definitely a humbling but very rewarding experience as many others on this thread have mentioned! |

I was just an average college student with big dreams and a lot of ambition. I had always been fascinated with cars and dreamed of owning a powerful sports car. I worked hard throughout college and landed a great job right after graduation. With my newfound financial stability, I decided to fulfill my lifelong dream and buy a 6th Gen SS Camaro. I still remember the day I first saw it. The sleek and aerodynamic design, the powerful engine, and the unmistakable roar of the exhaust. It was love at first sight. I knew that I had to have it. Besides I have to say that I am also a college student and I discovered this source https://papersowl.com/examples/a-dolls-house/ I find it very good, because from there you can do very good writing, like A dolls houses, it would not have occurred to me once, and with its help I managed to do a good writing that the college professors appreciated. I worked hard to save up enough money and finally purchased my dream car. It was a moment I will never forget. Driving my Camaro for the first time was an incredible feeling. The power and speed were exhilarating, and I felt like I could conquer the world. Over the years, I have continued to work hard and have made a name for myself in my field. I have also become more involved in the car community, attending car shows and meets with fellow enthusiasts. My Camaro has been my faithful companion throughout my journey, and I have customized it to make it truly my own. Looking back on my life, I am grateful for the opportunities that college provided me. It gave me the tools and knowledge I needed to succeed in my career, and it also gave me the drive and determination to pursue my dreams. Owning my 6th Gen SS Camaro has been a symbol of my hard work and success, and I will always cherish it as a reminder of what I can achieve if I put my mind to it. Yes, I just ordered a Camaro 2SS, build sheets in with 5 dealers. Fingers crossed for an allocation. I'm a college student, but I work full time. I went back to school to get my masters in mechanical engineering. I'm set to defend my thesis in July!

This would have been a really slick car while in college. I drove a Ford Ranger 4x4, then when I got my first good job, got a Jeep Wrangler.

Looks like my original reply didn’t post. I dropped out. Went into entertainment after and got an 2021 LT1. Then got into tech and got a new 2023 1SS. Glad I’m not in any college debt but respect to those who are doing it and have an SS.
