Check my math and compressor map placement.

I was thinking about where I am in this turbo map and unless my math is wrong, I'm right on the choking point at 10 psi and 730 wheel. I will be on the choking point with 15 psi and how ever much it makes.

Variables I used.
Stock Camaro makes 400 wheel.
My car made 730 at 10 psi. + 330 hp which is 33hp / psi of boost.
Using my math on the far right, came up with 840 engine power with a 15% drive train loss ( -109hp ) which made 730 at the tire.
Using airflow 1 lb/min = 10 hp.
I concluded with 1.68 pressure Ratio and 73 lbs/min. Red Lines and Dot on the bottom right of the graph. Right on the choke line.

It is being turned up to 15 psi. Using that math above I can guess what my car will make on 15psi and where on the map I will land. 2.02 Pressure Ratio with 89.5 lbs/min. Blue Lines and Dot, just on the inside of the choke point. Staying with each lb of boost will produce an extra 33 hp, the math says it'll make 895 wheel. That seems really high to me.

Talk to me guys.

Wouldn’t your 730 WHP be 840 BHP, so 84 lbs/min not 73?

Turbo looks too small across the board. You’re way outside the main efficiency island...?

Thanks for checking. You’re correct it should be 84 lb/min. Which puts me way outta the ball park. Is the 1lb / min = 10hp correct?

Yeah, that’s the rule of thumb.

So now I’m much more off the chart?
How can mine pull hard up top and not fall on its face?

The turbo is too small but that doesn’t mean it won’t work. It isn’t spent until you turn up the boost and gain no more power. It is pretty easy to see. 30hp per psi and then all the sudden you get 5hp for the next psi and then 0hp.

Good call Parish. Plus, I’d guess your inefficiency at that level would spike IATs more so than if you were running a better sized turbo.

Yeah, your iats will go up but it seems like when the hp stops climbing is the best way to know it is done. a little 50 shot before the turbo would make the turbo seem much larger.

Makes sense, thanks boss. Well I hope this setup gets me to my goal because I don't want to replace this unit.

You'll eventually need to go T6.
Keep in mind the hp / lb of boost has a threshold. Once you start getting into higher boost levels you will gain significantly less HP per lb of boost.
I agree though that you are outside of that turbos efficiency range with the car.
Slap a 80-85mm T6 on that thing and let it eat.

We tested the smaller and bigger housings for this turbo. The smallest 84 Trim 1.01 A/R choked out way to early. The 84 Trim 1.28 A/R was way to laggy. So it was decided to stay in the middle with the 84 Trim 1.15 A/R. I completely agree with you guys that a larger frame turbo would make more power but I really don't wanna spend the money on a new unit and the kit was built around this very expensive turbo ( size wise ). I really think I can get into the 9s with this turbo. I also agree that going from 15 up to ~20, i will drop the HP/PSI. Right now its around 29hp/psi.

Its been a while so, I updated my map. Ill also post the dyno sheet so you can see the power band.
