Well think about it this way. The top bushing is what determines how far away the cradle is from the car. The hole weight of the rear of the car sits on the top bushings. If the top bushings are not all the way down in the cradle the cradle can not sit level with the car. If the top bushing is not all the way down the weight of the car after hitting many bumps might move that top bushing to were it is supposed to be. Now if the bushings are touching when you torqued the bolts to the proper torque the bolt will not come loose just the cradle can settle to were it is supposed to be. So As long as you torqued the bolts with the bushings touching all it could do is mess with the rear alignment. You need to get it realigned after putting them in but if the top bushing moves after it will be out of alignment again.

I should have bought a ZL1

I ran into a few dealers which, after I ordered and paid for the bushings, sent me a reply these were no longer available. I got my money back of course, and went with one the dealers in this thread. Shipped to me the next day - I should get them by the end of the week.

The part number is still the same in the GMPP catalog, but it seems there may not be many kits out there. Get 'em while you can!!!...

Not super big but not a job for a newbie, I did it over the winter on quickjacks and a small ass garage. If I would need to do it again it would take me maybe 4 hrs. You don't have to drain the cooling lines to save time and headaches.
