Not any cat, but I suppose if you don't have the right size cat for your HP application, it will be an issue. G-Sport has some larger high flow cats for high HP applications but I doubt everyone is using them appropriately. They make cats that support very high HP applications up to 4" pipe range range but most people probably don't want to pay the price for them because they are expensive so they use high flow cats that are too small for their HP application and accordingly burn them up.

I've seen Hellcat OEM cats support well over 1000hp in racing applications.

Here is my Gesi green cat, 4 months old when I was at 660rwhp.

CSP found it like this when doing my build. I’m not sure if it was defective or not but the car only sees street driving. I put new ones on with my new build and I’m periodically checking them via my borascope down the o2 sensors. So far so good.

I've done my fair share of reading about them. Some have had them collapse, some melt, but a lot have been through Hell without an issues. I'm more inclined to chalk it up to some are simply not as durable as others or defective, but there are always other factors like tuning. Really hard to say but there are a lot of high HP builds that have tracked their cars too and been ok. Like anything with analysis, without knowing all the variables it makes it really hard to determine with any accuracy.

I got to admit though, if I had both of mine do this, I would leery about putting any more back on my car. If it was only one out of two, then I would be more inclined to believe it was defective or a tuning issue.

I’ve got off-road pipes sitting here. If when I Check I see anything wrong with my camera , they are being pulled right off.

Same here bud. Its hard for to imagine that a properly built high flow cat can't stand up to high HP vehicles when the Hellcat OEM cats can. There are plenty of 1000+hp Hellcats running stock cats for years without any issues. Mine was one of them.

I did, yesterday. Absolutely fantastic build. 305/45/17's are required , as soon as my Forgeline Beadlocks arrive the Nitto's are getting thrown on the car. The guys at Katech were great to work with.... first class organization and shop.

If you can believe it... the car seems almost quieter with the 2" ARH Headers & Long System, High Flow Cats and Borla S-Type. Start up in Stealth mode is ridiculously quiet, which will be nice for early AM cold starts. Starting the ZL1 with the previous set-up: Stock cats & Borla Atak Cat Back was much louder than it is now. TBH I never tried it in stealth mode before though so I cannot give a 100% accurate comparison.

The only thing I wish I had done differently is going with a bigger cam. I miss the chop. The drivability is wonderful though, nice and smooth, quiet when she needs to be but if you lay into her... she screams.

Roads are cold and tires are not sticky enough to give an accurate description of how much power she has. Once I really get to test her out, I'll let you know. I can say that it is a blast to drive and just nice to have my ZL1 back in general.

Was your Cat Overtemp Protection turned off, or threshold temp raised?
