I just went thru this as inventory in S FL has been pretty sparse. I used Ship a Car Direct; MD to FL enclosed of 1200$.
I felt somewhat comfortable using them as they have a “100% guarantee no damage” policy. Thankfully I didn’t have to test it. Your results may vary. GL. |

I had my car shipped from MI to WI. I used RoadRunner. It was not in a covered carrier, but honestly I really didn't care. When I drive it out on the road it's not covered. They were real good. cost was $650. I would stay away from any broker sites.

Like a couple of other folks here, I have done the U-Haul open trailer transport and pulled it (quite easily, I might add) with my 2015 1500 Silverado w/ Tow Package (not Max Tow).
The pluses are that you get to see it during every mile and you are in complete control of exactly what happens all along the way. If you are going to self-move, it's super simple to add that trailer to the back of the truck. The down sides to that process are as follows: - The cost can be high. I did a 'local' rental, drove 150 miles empty, loaded the car, drove 150 miles home. Cost was about $60. If I were moving to AZ (from CT), that cost jumps to about $800. - It's an open trailer. Anything and everything getting kicked up from your tow vehicle and the vehicles around you, as well as anything for precipitation and such, are fair game for hitting the car. On a long distance haul, you want to be mindful of stone chips and similar that could result on the front of the car. Consider some sort of wrap for it if you can. - There is no good place/way on the car to lash the rear end down. While mine sat pretty still with no attachment at the rear, I was being mindful of that as I towed and was predominantly on smooth roads. The car DID move about 1" to one side, but that was ok. If it were me, and I had the tow vehicle for it, I would consider an enclosed car trailer -purchase- and then sell it when I got where I was going. Or, keep it as a storage trailer if that were useful. |

I noticed that too with the Camaro right now. The dealers when they get new ones it's either loaded up rag tops pushing 53k or it's the cheap RS ones. Used ones not a lot of inventory. YET the inventory for used Mustangs is huge in my area of FL right now. You can find 2018 ones for a pretty good price. Here in Southwest FL the dealers don't seem to carry many performance cars or Camaros. They like to stock their lots of with SUVs. Up by Tampa and Orlando there is a better selection of Camaro, Mustang, and Challengers. |

I've been in touch with Montway and lots of spam from many others. Still thinking it over. TM.

Contact Jon at Freedom Auto Carriers - 561-350-0517. He has shipped cars for me and I know a couple of others on this Forum. He's a Broker but a Very Good one. He's picking up a car from me on Monday on a 2 car Enclosed Trailer. I don't like shipping on Big Rig Carriers - the cars get loaded and unloaded too much

J/W for those towing vehicles with your personal trucks, do you notice a significant decrease in your fuel mileage?

Stock towing capability on the tow vehicle? Motor? Terrain? Type and size of trailer? Speed? Using the U-Haul trailer with my 2015 Silverado 1500 / 5.3 / 3.42 4x4 I saw the following estimated fuel numbers: Normal driving along the route (I've traveled it lots of times) would yield somewhere around 17-18MPG. Towing the trailer only to go get the car, 70 miles-ish, I saw around 16MPG. Towing the trailer with the car on it, again about 70 miles-ish, I saw about 12MPG. This particular route is overall very slightly uphill out and very slightly downhill back (the elevation change was roughly a few of hundred feet overall). At the very end, however, for the last five miles of the pull with the trailer and car, I had to climb about 700 feet in elevation and that caused a decent hit to the MPG at that point. My truck would routinely drop down to V4 mode on the flats on the highway where I would be running about 60MPH. If my truck had the 6.2L instead of the 5.3L, I would likely have seen better MPG numbers while towing but worse overall for the 80k I've logged in the truck. And those miles would have all been logged using Premium fuel instead of 87. So, they would have been very expensive miles. Not sure if any of that really helps because, in the end, the number of miles you tow should be a drop in the bucket compared to unladen miles. |

I used Z-Man Transportation out of NJ. He and his wife go up and down east coast as well. He transported my 20 SS 1LE from Charlestown, SC to Pottstown, PA in his enclosed trailer. Very reasonable and he was great to deal with. Recommend him highly.....
Contact number for him is 1-732-850-8250. |

I transported two years ago from coast to coast using Reliable and it cost $1000.
If you're going cheaper with an open trailer then invest $150 in a Novistrech bra! |
