I would have to seriously consider an offer like that..

I’m honestly with you.
I have never made a purchase in my life that felt more right for me. And having owned the car a couple years now I still dream about this very car that sits in my garage today.
It would require a large sum of money to get me to think about selling this car. The car is that good, that much fun, looks that sexy and mean, and it’s really a dream come true for me.
I’d honestly be scared to sell it to get another only to find a problem with the new one. That would totally suck.

My 2020 ScatPack Challenger still have 2 plus years with the Warranty so maybe if I can get a 2022 Camaro SS 1 or 2 in Aug or Sept with a GREAT tradin I will do it..Others would be smart to do it if your car is out of warranty and get a New one with 3 years.
I heard today that Microsoft said it will be 3 years before computer parts for cars will be back to normal and the Biggest Computer Chip Company said that they are going to make Chips here in AZ instead of Taiwan but that plant will be also in 3 years.....Guess we are going to have chip problems for awhile........JT

The increase in used car prices started before the chip shortage. I bought my SS 1LE in September 2019 for $35k, 3,800 miles on it. Then when COVID hit and they started handing money out it climbed to the high $30's. Now I'm seeing them in the low $40's. When people are essentially making $60k a year, that never made anywhere near that before COVID, and not having to pay their mortgage there are a lot more buyers for cars now. It's weird seeing all these signs for hiring but yet unemployment is on the high side. Who'd take a $25k yearly salary when they can sit at home and be handed $60k plus.

The whole shutdown was BS. It should have never happened. 1957 and 1967 none of this and everyone got over the virus. Eventually they will have to pay it and I'm thinking the housing market will be the next to correct. When interest rates go up and the stop on foreclosures expires I'm thinking there will be a glut of houses on the market. These idiots who overpaid with the housing shortage will feel dumb.

part of the blame is on the auto makers and computer companies. They didn't order the semi conductors during the lockdowns last year. They should have kept their orders knowing they'd need them eventually. The auto makers cancelled their orders and now they need them and can't get them soon enough.

Just like the dumb arse rental companies sold some of their fleet cars. Didn't they know they'd need their cars eventually? I mean, that money hungry?

This.

Why sell the cars I’m completely happy with only for a few bucks. Nope. I would only miss what I’ve got in the garage right now.

This 2x. My car isn't going anywhere. What would I buy instead when, after all, the market has two ends.

Nice. Great deal on that car. Those new Accent 6M I heard are fun little things for cheap.

For what they are they are great fun to drive, light on their feet, it weighs in just over a Miata and a blast to toss around. Decent seats and a slick shifting 6M it’s like driving a go cart... And an honest consistent 50+ MPG to boot!!!

The temptation was too great for me. Carmax offered me $37,400 for my 2017 Camaro SS. I paid $41,500 before tax and fees for it new back in 2017. I still loved the Camaro, but the prospect of maintaining two vehicles down the road was one I started to disfavor. So given the high offer Carmax was giving, I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I have a Tesla Model 3 LR on order as its replacement.

I will miss the sound of the V8 and will miss the car as a whole, but I do look forward to the Model 3.

Car and truck prices are so escalated right now. It's due mainly to demand. Vehicle manufacturer's are having issues obtaining parts from their suppliers and also the chip shortage- all due to Covid. At the same time, people are coming out of Covid hibernation- cash rich and ready to buy and travel. Dealers benefit the most- they can ask sticker price or higher right now and people scramble to buy. That's why Car Max, Vroom and Carvana are offering so much for used cars right now. Then they turn around and sell them to the desperate buyers. Trucks are the worst- especially diesels. Price up a diesel truck lately- if you can even find one?

I paid 28K out the door just over a year ago for my left over brand new 2019 Silverado Double Cab 4 X 4 with 5.3 V8. I bought it when no one would venture out of their house fearing Covid. There was not one person in the dealership the day I bought my truck. They were desperate for a sale. Now I see 4 and 6 cylinder ones 2WD going for 35K, anything with a V8 well into in the 40's. I am seeing so many used trucks with 125K on them going for 25-30K.

It's the same with houses right now. Great time to sell, very bad time to buy.

I rented a 2020 accent auto. Rated at 41 hwy. I got 40mpg on a hwy drive averaging 75. The manual is rated at 39hwy. Not sure how you are getting 50.

My daily drive is a mix of interstate 65 to 70 MPH and mostly back roads traveling 50 to 55 MPH with only a handful of lights. In the spring summer and fall months with warmer temps and summer blend fuel with windows down and AC off I consistently average over 50 MPG and over 600 miles per 12.9 gallon tank. In the winter with colder temps and winter blend fuel my average drops to mid 40s. Also a round trip to Florida last winter mostly interstate returned just over 40 MPG. If you know how to use the manual transmission to maximize fuel economy the real world MPG can be well over the EPA estimate and rival most hybrids, however if you drive mainly highway you can expect closer to the EPA rating...
