ZL1 Production Numbers

I was just curious if anyone knows why the total 2013 ZL1 production numbers are some much higher than 2012, 2014 and 2015 model years?

I love all ZL1s but IMO, the 2014 and 2015 numbers would've been as high (or higher) than 2013 if they hadn't made the minor style change. Lots of people seemed to dislike the rear lights. But I hope the production numbers are high again for the 2017! #ZL1strong

I'm pretty sure that much of the 2013 production was to satisfy pent-up demand that was not fulfilled by the short 2012 production run.

It was also the first year for the ZL1 convertible.

That's true. Totals were 1,971 for 2012, 2,436 for 2014 & 1,850 for 2015. 2013 production was almost more than the other three years combined!

What's your point? :-)

2013 was also the first year for Nav. I wanted the early tail lights and nav along with my particular configuration...

Not a MyLink NAV, just the OnStar connections and directions. The NAV they are talking about wasn't available until MY13 with the MyLink.

Have to agree with ZL1Dan, I've got 1 of the 303 of 2013 Verts Black on Black with my options.

How do you find out how many were made with the same options you have? i.e. I have a 2015 Blue Velvet Metallic with a 6M, sunroof and recaro seats. Is there a way to find out how many were built with these options?

I think that E. Bryant is right regarding the non-fulfilled demand remaining following the original 2012 production numbers drove the production for 2013. I was one of them, but was very fortunate to have my 2013 MY order delivered.
Upon delivery, actually before that, I wanted to collect as much information about our ZL1s as I could.

winterboy8, here is what I found to help answer your question, as I wanted to know the same thing:

Go to compnine.com/service@compnine.com
If you provide them with your full VIN, as well as the alpha listing of all of your options, they will provide you with a "One of X" number. I found that of the 7956 2013 ZL1s produced, mine was one of 271.
There is a fee for their service. My old memory is that it is $30.00 USD, however you can have them run a lot of VINs, 30 is my memory, for that single cost. They will also provide you with a completely detailed build sheet with the "born on/build date" for your car if you'd like it, again VIN-based.

I hope that this helps.
