did you watch the video btw? OP has no clue about the cars it seems either, claiming the chassis, sway bars, suspension differ LOL. My god, 1le guys have to do anything to justify their purchase lmao.

Great track video otherwise though, really shows how much better the zl1 is

Equal driver and tires, I'd put money on the ZL1 most any time. But that's the beauty of racing: the people who don't do it will likely get their butts turned inside out by some old dude in what SEEMS to be a clapped-out Miata. Who cares if "all things are equal" - that is only the case in benchmark racing, and the real test is the guy in the seat.

Found the guy that actually races.

Really? "They're special"? You realize how pompous and arrogant that sounds, right?

And again, with more arrogance, as if since you spent at least $20000 more, you deserve the championship belt. To me, all this video shows is how much more the ZL1 costs and how little it can bring to the table if you're not as experienced. So to you I ask: where are your track videos showing you dominating SS 1LE's all of the time, or anything at all, really? Because if you have none, all you have is a very expensive fish story to tell about how "if I HAD to, I could probably totally maybe beat some cars that are clearly inferior to mine."

Before you ask, here's MY cred, and I did this 8 years ago - getting points in a 370Z from a GT-R, a BMW M3, a Boxster, and what I believe was a 996 Turbo. All of which (save for the Boxster) should probably clean my clock.

I wonder how they felt about spending their small fortunes on their cars only to get beaten by a $29000 370Z...a special breed, indeed.

Maybe earn your arrogance? Point bys? How about getting experienced enough so you're actually inside passing in real wheel to wheel racing and not weekend warrior pretend racing.

That's some of the crappiest driving I've ever seen. I wouldn't chalk this up to "SS 1LE is just as fast as a ZL1" because of this video. Whoever driving the SS was also hitting early apex's, late apex's, completely missed apex's, not a banner day for Camaros while you guys were out there.

I went SS 1LE --> ZL1 A10 --> ZL1 1LE and the difference both in the corners and the straights is enormous, but you do have to know what you're doing and you have to know how hard you can push the car. Id say the SS1LE is "easy" to drive compared to the ZL1/ZL1 1LE.

Wait, so I can spend $50K to get the same type of car that is faster than a $65K car? I'm sure the SS 1LE is a great track car, but GM is very deliberate in their packages. If the SS 1LE was a better performing car than a ZL1, then you can bet that GM would price the SS 1LE more than the ZL1.

And then there are track factors. I've seen little Hondas, Acuras, and Subarus beat big hulking V8 Camaros in a drag race, specifically at an 1/8th mile track where the large Camaros start to put power down just before the 1/8th mile. Does that mean that the Honda, Acura, and Subaru is a better performance vehicle? Not exactly.

fact of the matter is, OP made this video and post trying to prove (justify) his purchase by a few clips against his friends zl1.

At no point did his car look faster in/out of turns, on straights, etc. Then on top of that his intro vid comparing the cars parts are all wrong as well as he clearly doesn't know the platforms very well.

Edit: anyone can have videos of cars doing things on tracks. If you're going to post videos supporting your own narrative just be accurate and unbias.

I only run DOT and non-DOT R comps on track, like 3R with my ZLE.

How close are non-R G3 to 3R? I'd be concerned about losing traction at my usual 100+ 3R speeds in turn 8-9 at Big Willow (110+) or 1-2 at Auto Club (130+). This could be catastrophic, do G3 stick at high temp or get greasy?

Yeah, because people are just straight trash drivers and cannot say anything unless they are doing full-on wheel-to-wheel racing lol.

The point of my post is that the driver itself is the most impactful element of almost any car on the track and if you've ever raced, you know that's true.

"I don't know how to actually drive my ZL1 to its full potential, but that won't stop me from spouting off!" - dfxrte, probably.

Gotcha, fam. Say no more.
