I just lost my 2015 Z06 (my brother in-law rolled it) so I am in the market for another car maybe corvette and honestly the c8 does nothing for me. I am ok with mid engine (its not that I am a front engine purist) but the design of the exterior and interior do nothing for me and then I might be able to look past that as I am a performance 1st kind of person and it does deliver there but no manual transmission kills it for me.

I love (almost) all of it. I am a fan of the C8 design, and like the looks of the Z even more. The motor is a high point of the car for sure, and I love the fact they made sure you can hear it in the cockpit.
I wish it had a manual. What's the point of a high revving NA engine if you can't row through the gears, and heal and toe? |

And the previous ZO6's all did well at the track(Aside from the 15-16Z's with cooling issues) with engines that made great low/mid range torque... At the end of the day 90% of the people buying these cars are going to drive them to cars/coffee and back home. Either way I commend GM for the efforts put into this platform. It's on the cutting edge and will appeal to the masses. Many of us here are old school and we don't want change. Let us cavemen have our opinions too...

Now, once they add some electric motors, it will more than satisfy the torque junkies but will it sound any good? I just picked up a 2021 ZL1 and the torque is fantastic but I am coming from a Tesla Model 3 Performance so from a torque perspective the cars feel similar. The Tesla feels a little stronger from 0-60mph, then falls off a cliff but the ZL1 feels strong everywhere and sounds the part.

I said that the C7 was the ugliest Corvette ever made, but its grown on me over time. Maybe the C8 will for you too. That being said, the C7 sold very poorly so apparently it didn't grow on a lot of people. The C8 is selling like crazy though.

Regarding auto availability, I see today that GM has authorized OT in 6 plants because their chip shortage has improved.

I just don't understand why GM lock these new cars down like fort knox. Aftermarket modifications to LS/LT platforms is a major reason performance cars from GM have such a massive following. Let people assume responsibility if they decide they want to modify. It is easily investigated and proven for warranty work claims. Imagine this car able to be tuned with a set of turbos out of the box. Same goes for upcoming variants, I don't get it.

I would actually prefer a C7 today more than this C8, because I have a good idea of the mods I would chose.

Seems like a great car for the price point. But realistically the average enthusiast will not be able to buy one for at least a few years. It looks OK and has great performance. But I tend to like cars that stay under the radar. I’ll leave my deposit on the Blackwing and hope for a early spring 22 delivery.
