The chassis on the 5th gen is very solid, to a point where it doesn't feel like you think a car with that power should. But get on the highway at 65 then down shift to 3rd and gun it. You'll see what I mean.

I put a K & N Cold Air Intake on it this afternoon & was wildly surprised at how much it woke this car up... I mean I have put them on nearly every sports car I have ever had... They all felt stronger, but this was a REAL difference!! This thing just keeps shocking me. These simple bolts on usually add a few HP, but you can rarely really feel it. I really felt the difference with this simple/easy bolt on... Not to mention the wildly difference sound from under the hood. I cannot wait to get the headers on & get it to a dyno.
I am straight up LOVING this thing!! Thanks again to everyone who quickly replied & helped out. I am SO ready for some nice weather to get this thing to a track & see some accurate times!! BTW another shocking revelation: This car is SO MUCH easier to work on than my old Corvette!! I figured EVERYTHING would be TIGHTLY packed under the hood & extremely hard to get to... My corvette dog house pretty much flipped up, but literally EVERYTHING was still a PITA to get my hands on... All sports cars seem to have tight clearances, but at least I can get my hands into the engine bay of this one!! Putting headers on my vette was REALLY tight. I do not believe it will be that bad in this one... Hope I am right. Thanks again everyone! |

Does anyone have opinions on which headers I should use?? I am wanting a good set. However, I've had people tell me Pacesetters are as good as any header. I just have a hard time believing that... Could be true. I just don't want to buy a set & need to replace them in a few yrs. I certainly don't want to be dealing with rusted up junk under the hood, or needing to retorque them once a month... Although I know most header will need to be kept tabs on...
Thoughts? Suggestions?? I want to keep as much $$ as I can, but I do want a good/quality set w/high flow cats... Is one company better than another for these cars?? May seem like a silly question, but I try to take advantage of knowledge where it exists... And there seems to be plenty of knowledge here about these cars, & I have little about them right now. Thanks. |

Here's the cliff notes of long tube headers:
High price: Kooks, ARH, Stainless Works Mid price: OBX, Texas Speed, Stainless Power Budget: Speed Engineering High price: made in America, lifetime warranty, great customer service, best quality control (better guarantee of correct fitment) Mid priced: made in China, typically 2 year warranty, decent customer service, chance of needing to dimple a tube for correct fitment. Budget: made in China, no warranty, limited customer support, best chance of needing to "massage to fit", no high flow cat option as a kit (have to source high flow cats elsewhere). I hope this helps. I'm running Kooks for about 4 years now and I've been very pleased. I got a good deal on them and I don't plan on ever selling the car so I only wanted to install headers once. Some will say I overpaid, but I still don't regret my decision.

I have Speed Engineering. They are very well made but I did have to dent one of the passenger side tubes to clear, some don't have to. $375 well spent, just had them coated for $300

I just read this and am doing the fuel reset. BTW had no idea about the Competition mode by hitting the TC button. I bought mine used and have no idea about any of this.

You will find in your tune you should turn ditch any torque management also when you get headers and a solid piece of advice is to get trailing arms and toes to limit wheel hop, usually BMR brand. Good Luck.

I was about to say I have to purposefully not go WOT in the first two gears to keep traction even with traction control on. I have the 3.91s but I would think regular finals would be the same.
I have nitto 555g2 285s and can't grip for crap off the line even easing into it. LT,CAI,Tune. |

The biggest issue I am running into now: I CANNOT find anyone with a Dyno to do the dyno tuning in KY... Anyone have any suggestions for a shop close to me that will do a decent job

Definitely get a throttle controller as your very next mod. It eliminates the throttle response lag and will make the car feel quicker. They come in realtime adjustable settings usually 1-10 and GUARANTEED if you set it to 5 -7 you'll burn rubber instantly , anything higher and holy sheets . Vitessee and JMS PedalMax (only one whose control circuit board is made in America) are the one to look at. Very ez install, just detach throttle pedal harness and attach the throttle controller in line.

Where in KY? Blevins Tuning is very well respected in the Louisville area.
