DIY; Silencer delete?

im skeptical of the power gains of any CAI

maybe when combined with headers, slightly bigger free flowing exhaust and a canned or dyno tune they can be PART of a 10-15%hp gain but at the expense of needing premium fuel from then on.

one of the real benefits of alot of CAIs is perceived power increase via extra sound of air rushing in the new intake tubes.

same thing happened by flipping the lid on circular SBC engines air cleaner in the old days on 4 bbl carbs

SO on my LFX engine has anyone tried deleting the bulbous silencer thing attached to our stock intake tubes and hotglueing a plug in its place?

it would also stop blocking view of your serpentine belt and accessories for periodic visual inspection usually at same time of month or week you check the oil level.

It's a factory tuned intake.

My understanding is the Helmholtz Resonator is there for more than a quieter intake, there's supposed to be a side benefit for mpg and performance related to engine vacuum. I left it alone and swapped in a slightly higher flowing dry panel filter that's in my sig.

I almost believe you BUT then i think i seen a newer LFX engine that DIDNT have one ffrom factory ?!

edit; technically its the newer 2018 LGX v6 that does away with that hemholtz resonator thingy

I also wonder why they decided to move the battery back up front?
i will post a pic

i needed room to install my catchcan anyways, so i deleted that hemholtz thing.

that and removing the cover/sound deadener things seems to let you hear the engine roar more
OR it could all be in my head
