Excelente review! Thank you for sharing this... but I have a question, could you or anyone else go into a little more detail about the wires in the bcm box. Whether to pull the gray wire completely out of the box first, how much and where exactly should I cut...etc. Thank you!

I wouldn't over think it. Give yourself a few inches of wire and then put in the splice. All you are doing is jumping into that line with the cabin light. So basically instead of just the overhead light coming on when you open the door, power is also sent to the sill plates.

Just finished installing mine today. Purchased from a member here. It turned out it was take offs that he purchased and never installed. It was the sills only and no harness. Pretty simple though to wire them up. Nice add-on. This write up helped me out. Thanks.

Agreed. For my custom harness, I just used one of those standard automotive blue tap in splices (pic below) vs. cutting the wires as indicated in the GM instructions for the GM harness. Spliced in ("x1" below) about 2" away from the connector so I could cut and re-splice as a butt connnection if ever any issues. Secured with wire ties up above the wires coming into the connector so can't get snagged up on clutch foot. Also used one of these to tie my right sill + lead into the left + lead running straight from the BCM tap. Made this L-R tap ("x2" below) in the driver's footwell for some space.

L sill +<______x2__x1
R sill +<_______/ /
BCM dome +<___/

Also noticed the other day these types of splices are also all over the place in my new enclosed trailer...from the factory. Kinda surprised me.

I installed them on my 1LE as well, I have to say GM should just put them on every car to be honest. They really make the car seem nicer interior wise.

These and the leather knee pads vs. the hard plastic ones in our 1LE's!

These 2 items (illuminated sills and leather knee pads - red stitched), 1LE GM mats, a CAGs delete, and the strut tower brace are the extent of my mods to date. IMO, these should all be factory for 1LE (sans aftermarket CAGs bypass) for <$500.

Realize you can always go LPO (like we did) but would make a nice RPO package nonetheless. Or just a friggin' 2SS 1LE!

Will be damn near there once I get my heated and cooled Recaros working.

Quick questions for everyone. Can I splice the red wire to the gray BCM? I'm doing an aftermarket door sill which has a negative and positive. So just wondering if I can just only add the red wire to the gray wire and will it still work?

Grey wire is the power for the dome lights auto on and off feature so whatever you wire will come on and off with your auto dome lights.
