As for Porsche, the purists aren't happy. Porsche is listening and will be offering more manuals in 911's. Including a special edition 911 R.
as if the 911 needs an even better track car,lol

I 100% agree with LesBaer. In fact, anyone that actually DRIVES these cars for themselves, knows the A8 has terrible lag and cannot compete with the 6spd stick, and the claim that the A8 can compete with DCT is just laughable.

Does the automatic in this car rev match on paddle (or shifter) commanded downshifts?

Yes, rev matches downshifts.

You can be in "automatic/drive" mode and just take over and start using the paddles at anytime. If you stop using the paddles for a little bit it will automatically switch back to automatic mode. You can also move the shifter over to the left for "manual" mode. In manual mode, you control the shifting with the paddles, however it will downshift automatically for you when you slow down or come to a stop if you don't do it yourself. Lastly, when you move the shifter to manual mode you can shift from the shifter itself or the paddles.

I am going back to a manual. Ordered a 1LT 2.0 with brake, RS and Technology package. Saved a ton of money.

I on the other hand, bought a manual after attempting to drive a manual for only like 20 min and not learning anything at all. I even drove it off the lot with just common knowledge and no experience. Learned in like 2 weeks. Extremely easy in the SS

Yep, my first truck was a manual went down to dallas to pick it up never driven a manual before. Figured it out on the way home only stalled it a couple times in stop n go traffic. Once you get the hang of it.. it's easy.

Getting auto. I haven't had a chance to learn manual, and although I would like to, I don't want to risk spending all this money on a new 2SS to do damage to it from not knowing how, or getting it and then ending up preferring automatic over manual. Not to mention I do go through a good amount of stop-and-go traffic, and the automatic is both faster and more efficient than the manual. I really do want to learn how to drive a stick though. I just don't have a car to do it in.

With that said. I dont have a huge problem with buying race autos when i cant get a stick.
It means whatever EACH individual wants it to mean. A big reason I got the auto is because it's quick and consistent and had 2 extra gears.

If the manual was like the LS3 vs. L99, I'd have gone manual.

Agreed. The A8 is a day and night difference between the older A6 in the L99. It just rips through the gears...bam, bam, bam, bam.

Wrong, driving the a8 is like having sex without a condom, b/c both ways you'll finish faster

But again, to each their own. I love the A8 in my current car for what it is. I could have got a Manual in this car but to me an auto just fit better for what my intentions were and I'm glad I went with an auto over a manual in that instance.
Couldn't agree more. Just more fun punching gears. Some prefer to just cruise and there aint nuthin wrong wit dat. Its why there are 2 options.

They say cars with sticks get stolen less because many thieves can't drive them. I look at it as a deterrent, I threw away my club.

For those debating on buying a manual with no experience. I taught my kid how to drive mine in less than 30 minutes. I am sure someone at the dealer can teach you in a nearby parking lot.
