Beyond Frustrated...need help/advice

So, I thought that getting a mail order tune would be fairly easy, no big deal, right? Wow, what a huge, horrible mistake! So, I'll try to keep this as short as possible. So, I buy the AEM A/F Guage and HP MPVI2. Had a welder cut a hole in my $1500 Stainless Works Coated Headers and do a piss-poor job of welding a sensor bung in the collector. Had to go back to him twice to fix leaks around the bung. Looks like crap! So, I get everything installed, and now I'm told that HP software only works with Windows-based computers....I only have a MacBook. So, after some research, I find out that supposedly, I can install Windows on my MacBook using this program called Boot Camp. So, very long story short...I get windows installed, but now it won't connect to the internet....like at all. There are no network drivers installed. Come to find out now, after several more hours of googling these issues, some of my Boot Camp set-up files are "corrupt and unreadable"!!! I found one guy that says there's a way to re-run the Windows set-up files, but I can't even find the right files. Yes, I'm very computer illiterate, I was lucky to get as far as I did!
I'm at the point now that I'm ready to totally pull the plug on this whole mail-order BS, and sell all the equipment that I've already bought, and just have someone local do a dyno tune. But that still doesn't fix the ugly-ass glob of weld on my expensive headers!!!
Can anyone help, before I put my foot through this F'n computer!?!?!?!

I'm no Mac expert, so won't try to guide you through restoring boot camp, but any chance you can borrow a Windows notebook from a neighbor or family member?

HPTuners will not bind your credits to the computer, only the MPVI2 hardware, so you can just plug it in the Windows machine and should be good for the time being, till you find a fix for the Mac.

I am using BootCamp and Windows10 on a new MacBook Pro and it was no big deal to set up or use.

If I recall it will partition the hard drive into two drives, one for each OS.

I think after my initial install I had several updates for the drivers, but after that it works just like any other windows machine. Possibly try letting it do all the updates?

Newer Macs are all made with windows style processors (this used to be the technology difference in hardware between Mac and PC), however the Mac OS is significantly more efficient than anything in Windows, which in turn means a Mac doesn't have the processor speed and RAM that most Windows machines do. Its all very driver dependent.

If I did it again, I would have just bought a low end small laptop for about the same money as it cost for putting Windows on the Mac.

Thanks for the advice and tips guys. I erased everything I did yesterday, including the drive partition, boot camp, and windows! Reloaded it today, and so far it appears to be working. At least this time I have access to my wireless internet connection! Going to go to the HP Tuner website and try to download the necessary software here in a bit. I'm assuming I'll need the MPVI2 driver software too, right?

Is there a good tutorial for what I need to do? I have no idea what I'm supposed to do after I get the software loaded on my computer and register the MPVI2. I'm guessing I need to somehow record some driving or at least the engine running and send it to my tuner so he can see what it's doing and what needs to be adjusted. I just have no clue how to do that. There's gotta be a tutorial out there somewhere.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Got all the software installed, and MPVI2 registered on the HP Tuners website. Not sure what to do next. Time to contact my tuner I guess. There's gotta be a good tutorial on YouTube or something....

Well I haven't yet done all of this to be honest, but I believe the proper sequence is as follows:

0. Connect the MPVI2 device to the OBD-II port and to your computer, then put the car in accessory mode, don't start the engine just yet
1. VCM Editor > Help > Resync Interface
2. VCM Editor > Flash > Read Vehicle, select Read Entire for all modules => this will read your factory tune from the car, save it for reference and as a backup

3. VCM Scanner > Vehicle > Connect
4. VCM Scanner > Vehicle > Start Scanning => this will record a log of your vehicle
Start the engine, drive around and produce the data your tuner asks for with the computer still connected
5. VCM Scanner > Log File > Save Log File As => this will save the log file that you can send to your tuner
6. VCM Scanner > Vehicle > Disconnect

Tuner sends you a tune based on your log, then
7. Do step 0 again
8. VCM Editor > File > Open => load the tune from the file you got
9. VCM Editor > Flash > Write Vehicle => this will write the tune into your vehicle; ***MAKE SURE THE COMPUTER HAS ENOUGH JUICE TO FINISH WRITING, OTHERWISE YOU'LL BE VERY SORRY***

I’m clueless as far as computers go but I can help you with some advice on fixing the mess the welder made. Find a welding shop that TIG welds. Buy two new bungs and give them to them. They should be able to cut the old ones off with a whizzer wheel and smooth the grinding marks out with flapper wheels. Even better if they have a dyna file. A good welding shop will know what you are talking about

Okay, I'll admit, after owning this car for 3 years, this is a dumb question.... But how exactly do you put the car into "accessory mode"?

Keep your foot off the brake pedal. (Don't touch it). Then just hold the start button for several seconds until everything lights up.

Push the start button (foot off brake) = car in accessory mode.
Then push the start button again (foot off brake) = car off.

Hold the start button 5+ seconds (foot off brake) = car ignition "ON."
Then push the start button again (foot off brake) = car off.

Indeed, ignition on with engine off may actually be better, although accessory mode worked as well for me.

Foot off brake or clutch, push and hold start button for 8 seconds.

Let us know if we can be of assistance.

Yeah it is a lot easier to just have a local guy do the tune, I know you are kind of stuck now having made purchases and all of that but I like being able to drop my car off and then go pick it up when it is done over all of this crap.
