Car red flagged

I've had my ZL1 for about 3months and 5500 miles. I noticed a small bulge in the paint on the hood insert and brought it to the dealer. The service manager said he would put it through as a manufacturer defect and have the part replaced.
The service advisor takes my info and mentions that there is a red flag on my because "it has been seen on the track." WTF? I bought it specifically to take on the track and thought Chevy was finally standing behind its track oriented cars. For the record the track was two road courses - Thunderhill and Sonoma Raceway...

How the heck did they find out about it being seen on the track (not that it matters) also I may be wrong but I thought the track warranty was only extended out to the 1LE.

GM obtains a pretty accurate performance history from the car's OnStar, GPS and/or the recorded On Board Data, (see my posts about Insurance Companies accessing this info)

Here's another program the the GM Hi-Po guys have been playing with to see to what extent the and the possibilities of data minutiae, (collection and analysis).

It's a shame that you spend over $60,000 on a car and can't actually enjoy it. Especially considering that everything about this car is performance related...all the track-related features on this car...and every mag test/comparison is about how well it performs. If they start screwing over their customers, then that will backfire when their customers choose not to return to them. And for the record, are they gonna do the same thing to all the Z06 owners who race their cars? Or those who buy the ZL1 1LE which is straight up a street legal track car? Realistically tho, I think the dealership is lying.

Its coming down to a point chevy will die from screwing people over. If they don't fix the stealerships service departments. Im sure the 6th gen would be selling way better if service departments was treating customers better for the past 5 years.

What does a paint defect have to do with running the car on a track? Nothing got any hotter than it would have during rush hour in Phoenix.

It's law enforcement which is most interested in the on board recorded data. It isn't possible to accurately calculate vehicle speed from skid marks when anti lock brakes are used. Crash in a residential area and when the cops read the data they file charges. All domestic and Japanese cars plus Fiat's have these recorders although GM was the first.

I would like to see the VIN to see this in the VIS report. I have never seen any warning like this before on a VIS.

This seems questionable as the HP supplement tells you straight up how to track the car and what to do.

I'd get proof of flagging or start using another dealer.

Furthermore, the onus is on them to provide proof it was your ZL1 out there.

Did he say what "red flag" meant as far as service goes? Or just that it somehow meant he knew it was at the track? If so, shouldn't matter. I'll tell them I was at the track.
