battery isnt that old as my car is a 2013, I just find it weird because I literally have never had an issue with the car starting, even started yesterday just fine. It has to be something to do with the installation of the new harness as that is the only thing that is different. The harness that I installed was the exact same as the one that I replaced it with.

using a GM compatible scan tool, you need to go into each ecu and clear the codes. There are two different types of codes, current and history. Clear all codes then try to restart

Check all the fuses, inside and under the hood.

If he disconnected his ECU during the engine harness replacement, what are the chances he could need a case/crank relearn?

This could also work as well, check out www.scantool.net for some adapters. Some even work with iphones and androids. I have their LX model connected to the "Torque Pro" app on an android tablet in my car via bluetooth, and the code reading/clearing works great.

unplug you connectors and look down in each one to see if there is a bent pin inside connector. push each wire into each connector. add some dialectric grease to you connectors. i had that happen to me with my cobalt bent pin did just what you are experiencing
