I have 700 miles on my Zl1 1LE and am breaking it in hard but keeping rpm's under 5K.
I can watch my needle go down all the time. I average 11-13 but frequently see 3-6 mpg when I have that display up when I have a lot of boost going. I am on back roads and highways with light traffic so I consider my driving now light to moderate thrashing since I am breaking it in. October will be first good thrashing at Sebring. My friend who has an old chevy with LS motor said how good mileage is with new LT motors but I don't see any difference. I chalk it up to no matter how you do it if you want horsepower you are going to suck gas. Well worth it. |

I have averaged 17.4 MPG over more than 6,000 miles on my 2017 ZL1, all types of driving.
Highway mileage is much better, but I drive it hard at other times, including quite a few autoX events. I could be averaging higher, but what is the point. 650 HP, let it rip.

Why are we talking about MPG if we purchased a 650hp, 6.2 L beast?
We didn't buy a TDI Jetta or Prius. Another ignorant thread.... |

I've gotten as high as 28.9 on the highway. Overall average is around 18. Far from an ignorant thread! I think it's pretty awesome that I can have so much power and speed, and still get good gas mileage if I want it.

Not a new ZL1 owner but I discovered resetting trip A & B monitors periodically updates the computer calculations for MPG...

I use Trip A, calculate and reset at each fill up. The car's calculation is close but I go with the numbers I get. I have the M6 and when I drive "normally" I'm getting between 23 & 26.....I've remember seeing some post on here folks with A10 on long road trip were getting 28. I'm not surprised with your mileage with the A10.
My 2016 2SS A8 was getting 27-30. |

Good thread. It appears that urban driving nets most in the very low teens. As a check, I tend to be in the 13-14 range on my A8 Z06. The only advantage I would have is 2-300 lbs less weight to carry around and I normally drive it with just me in the car. So as driven about 3650 lbs.

I see it as a worthwhile thread. No one will be WOT 100% of the time or even in boost for that matter. If I'm just cruising down the highway, I want to get the best gas mileage I can. If you drive the car a lot, the cost can really add up. I'd rather get 25 mpg than 10.

You can also use the GasBuddy app. It automatically calculates and records the inputs so you can have a database to look back at.
THE LT1/LT4 EPA records are pretty damn accurate but they are on the low side of reality. You can baby the hell out of it and get much more mpg. 2SS is rated at 25 but I've seen 32 mpg for 50 miles or 12 mpg for 50 miles. |

I don't think it is an ignorant thread, just another thread so people can talk about their ZL1's. It may be a repeat though, but I never mind talking about the car again. That would mean I can repeat myself and I don't sound like an ole' fart.

I'm currently at 8,759 miles with one trip of about 4,000 miles to the east coast and back. Overall average mileage is 18 mpg (OnStar.) My current tank is 17 mpg. I average anywhere from 14 to 17 mpg on each tank of city driving to/from work and how much I push the long pedal into that wonderful supercharger!

Highway miles I seem to average 23-24MPG, around town my average is around 15-16MPG. Around VIR I got about 3MPG. A gallon a lap!
Sounds about right.
