Thanks for following up on this. At first, I was against an interface into the base system, but things have changed. Since your first post, I sold one car so I could drive the Z more. In doing so, the top up down issue really came to a head for me (literally). Had an MRI back in May and found out that I had a newly herniated disk in my neck. I’m pretty sure I know how it happened. I occasionally smack my head sideways getting into or out of the car, especially in my tight garage. Anyway, I ran a test, and to my surprise, the top clears my garage door opener by 1” (Yes!! ) With that said, I only enter and exit the car with the top down. So much easier! But again, to your point… lowering and raising the top is a major pain in the ass. To raise, I have to reach in and feel around for the switch while I stand with the door propped open and against a pad on my wall. As far as lowering, the remote is hit or miss for a full stroke down on the first try.

I’ll be ordering the one touch system soon (the benefits seems to outway the risks for me).

Thanks again.

*** update, just ordered mine

A quick question...is there a way to stop the close cycle mid way through the one touch closing/opening? For example, you're opening or closing the lid and a child runs over to the car and you want to make sure they dont stick their finger in there anywhere?

Lets face it, the safety features are there for a reason. For me to purchase, I'd like to be sure the top motion can be stopped in some odd circumstance, if needed. Thanks in advance!

Chutzpah: Sorry to hear about your injury, but great to hear you are pulling the trigger, I think you are gonna love this like I do. (I drive top down here in San Jose about 80% of the time.)

He11bent: Yes, great question. The first 3 x clicks on the top button on the key fob starts the auto-down, then a further 1 x click will "pause" it. A further 1 x click will "unpause" it. Same for auto-up.

Now it will not stay "paused" in ANY position forever - after about 60 seconds, it MAY move the top to a "preferred" position. There may be certain partially open positions that stress the top in some way. I'll double check this for you.

But in short, yes - if someone is getting cut in two by the top, you can stop the operation!

thanks for the update. also pulled the trigger on this today (should arrive this week). windows not rolling back up when top is going up dont matter to me and being able to pause the operation is a plus (i check and grease moving top parts as necessary every 6 months). this mod seems to be a winner.

items came in today and all i can say is Plasar is 100% spot on. very nice mod. took less than 10 min for install/program and update. 1 touch for the inside switch and 3sec hold on the fob was good enough for me. thanks

Just got mine today…. Can’t say that I’m happy just yet (I’m sure I will be, need to step back and have a beer) Just got a little annoyed…I had to remove the back seat to gain decent access / leverage to pull the plug. There was some room there, but, with the ZL1 rear seat cushion, I could tell I was either going to risk damaging the cushion, lower retainer bracket(s), or worse, the wires. Even with the cushion removed, my plug was stuck on there. Tab fully released, I needed to use needle nose pliers to get it to budge..I also had issues with their software install, but they had another version I was able to load, all worked out ok.

For full removal ZL1 rear seat back - in addition to releasing the upper tabs….There are two 10mm nuts that need to be removed, with a long socket and extension. They’re located just to the left and right of the seat belt attachment points. Apply a decent amount of downward pressure to the lower rear seat cushion and feel around, you’ll find them. As well, keep a finger under the backing washer, if you lose one of those suckers, it’s gone, unless you remove the lower cushion.

Everything works as they say it does…just took me a little longer than I anticipated. It’s beer time!

So I just took the car for a ride… noticed that the door switch activation for the top only works when the car is completely shut off. I’m assuming that’s because the door switch doesn’t activate from the outside, while running.

Ok, figured this out after looking at the settings again…should have looked at your settings to begin with Plasar. Anyway, function 1 has to be on setting 2. Works like a charm. Only downside is the window up feature. But, since there’s nothing else like this on the market, I’d say it’s worth the $.

Xandee:

Glad it worked straightaway and you like it. i thank you because you taught me something - you can hold the key fob unlock for 3 seconds instead of clicking 3 times. Your way is MUCH BETTER!

Chutzpah:

Glad you got it working and configured in the end. Sorry for the trouble getting the seat out - I guess that's why I bailed on the install and let a shop handle it.

Check out how deep Fernando from Five Star Car Stereo got in a Camaro6 coupe - ouch! Your and my neck would give out for sure!

Is that a 2017 Camaro in for a new stereo, why yes it is!! Installer Diaries 56

cgdelena:

I'm glad you've been enjoying this for a year. The coolest thing is it gets better with time - the more you use it, the more time and energy you save, life is good!

I just did this modification

Since 1994, been busting knuckles and stripping fingernails putting soft tops up and down on Jeeps. So the family had to pick on me that now all I had to do was hold a button. But with this change... I don't even have to hold it anymore. Had the Camaro a month and have been researching stuff. This seemed to be the first comfort change I could make.

Worth it to me.

Just got it in the other day and super pumped to put this in. I hope the removing the seat isn't too much of a pita.
