The standard Gen5 seats, on the other hand, have headrests shaped like those on the Gen6 Recaro seats. That's what I have now. Those are some good looking seats, with "SS" embroidered in the headrest instead of stupidly glued onto the seat back. What were they thinking?

I would go with Recaro seats for an upgrade.

If I'm ever able to order a Gen6 (after the chip shortage) you can bet it will have Recaro seats!

I personally think the 6th gen seats are miles ahead over the 5th gen seats. I thought the 5th gen seats were butt ugly. The entirety of that interior has not held up well IMO. The Exterior still does quite well though.

i wanted oem 1le/zl1 seats for the longest time but could never find them for a good deal and i race my car more than i drive it on streets so i went with a sparco qrt r only about an hour long drive for my longest so far but its actually pretty damn comfy for a race seat

What is the Recline Mod?

Stock seats have pins in the frame that limit how far they can recline.

You remove the seats from the car, pull back the seat back cover on the sides and drill out the pins. It allows more adjustment of the seat back and allows you to recline as far back as you want.

Those look like they fit like a glove. I used to race tracks on my r1 and r6 and decided to finally give that up and now got this for some quick thrills from time to time What did those sparcos run you? Which tracks have you run at?

about $800 a seat and i only did one seat cause im cheap plus brackets and sliders so about $1200 or so and they are super comfy and im in socal so buttonwillow big willow fontana chuckwalla etc

..... there nice seats but if your not tracking I don’t know that i’d invest. So much more you could do with the 2.5-3k left if you got current seats katzkin’d. Just my thoughts

and you have a valid point, I'm in the research, gather information phase and I go back and forth on it I have a 2016 Ram I also drive and drove it the last week or so. Once I got back in my Camaro the seats weren't all that bad. So Katzkin is for sure up there on my decision.... the seat options are looking to be fairly costly to replace them.

I think trying for 5th Gen seats would require a lot of custom wiring and idk if it’s worth especially with the airbag.

The price for 1LE seats has been high but damn the price spec is dumb these days
