I'm not "near' them but they are only about 2.5 hours from me. A buddy of mine dropped his car off a couple of months ago for a full head and cam package and they had it it out in a few weeks. I have bought a few things from them and never had an issue getting in touch with them, that is odd.

Agreed, that's insane.

I get a response every so often. I called a few weeks ago until I got someone on the phone. I expressed my concerns about lack of info. I set my appt almost 2mo in advance, and it's been 5mo.

I'm all about quality over quickness, just wanting some info along the process....

If you call make sure you talk with James. I find that if you get someone else you get the “runaround”. They’re super busy and I believe they are in the process of moving. Still not an excuse to ignore phone calls though.

5 months is too long regardless for a build like this...it's not like they are building a race car from the ground up with a standalone ECU. If you are going to be 5+ months out on a fairly basic build pushing under 800whp then you need to rethink your business model.

He is who I have dealt with since scheduling 2mo before dropoff. Was supposed to get pics of shortblock like 9 days ago when pistons were going in... Haven't seen them yet.

All about giving the benefit of the doubt, but honestly getting a bit upset at this point. Seems like something is going on, but I can just swing by to check up.

Take the drive and see the progress for yourself.

That's a 10hr drive one way...

James is on vacation, which is why I didn't get a call back. I talked with another guy this morning, and he is going to try to get some info and call me back later today. Block is cleaned, still waiting on the heads, but that's all he knew quickly.

Not that I'm worried with GPI, I just don't understand, or have any info/communication on WHY it's taking this long. I know they've had the parts for months. This was the reason I chose GPI over LMR, because they were extremely helpful during the appt/build discussions.

I think spending two days to personally check on your car that's been there 5 months with out assurance or with decent communication is well worth it. What was the quote they gave you for the project? That also weighs in on why I said go there yourself. You're paying thousands of dollars and its coming up on half a year for a project.

Don't disagree at all with this. Got another call back yesterday with some more info, and hoping to get pictures today/tomorrow. Else, I'll likely take a quick flight to check up.

And yes, thousands is an understatement. Most I have spent at one time on any of my cars.

Received some actual pics today. Supposed to button up pistons and shortblock tomorrow. Hopefully this means progress will keep moving... Though they are moving shops this month as well.

Kevin has given me more info in 3 days then I got in 5mo, so this could be a good sign. If not, I looked up flights and they aren't bad at all. Planned to fly one of my daughters with me to pickup and road trip back.

They took from late September all the way to January with my build. They’re were times when I started to get worried but as the build progressed I started to get a lot of info and pics. Decided to fly down and drive the 1100 miles back home. I think they’re behind on builds and the start date they give you is far off from when they actually start tearing into the car.
