3200 or 3600 stall for L99?

Hey guys,

The stall is next on my list for performance, but I can't decide between a 3200 or 3600 stall. I *may* get 3.91s at some point in the future, but not anytime soon. I would LOVE to get a cam, but I can't realistically see that happening for AWHILE.

Car is a daily driver with bolt-ons, and I have a tranny cooler already.

I'm leaning towards Circle D right now.

Thanks!

I would wait until you decide which cam you want. Cam and converter go hand in hand.

Go ahead with the 3600 if theres a possibility of cam swap in the future.

I think the stall has to be pulled out to change the stall speed though. :P I don't see myself doing the labor to do that.

I emailed Circle D and with my set up 3200 is what they suggested. 3200 drives like stock until you hammer it....3200 stall with 391s makes a good cruiser.

Stay with 3600 it should work with most cams that you could pick.

It's called a convertor, not a stall.

If your not use to driving higher RPM convertors 3600 may be a bit much for you. Dont get me wrong I've had a lot higher in some of my cars but we're talking 600 to 800 HP with cams that were so extreme you needed it.

With a stock motor & cam 3200 is a great choice, if you plan on really camming it up then maybe I'd consider the 3600.

Go with 3200. You only need the 3600 and higher if you are planning on running someones stage 4 cam kit (for the most part). Most of those kits require some flywheel cutting etc if I'm not mistaken, and that doesn't sound like something you would be interested in doing from reading your other posts.

My 2 cents - go with a 3200 stall and enjoy. Add the 3.91 gears down the road, and eventually add a stage 1-3 cam from an awesome forum sponsor like Gwatney Performance, Texas Speed, etc. All of those pieces pair together nicely so it would be a nice buy that meshes well with your future plans

another thing...a converter will flash higher at launch depending on how much TQ is hitting it..I hear any where from 300 to 500 RPM HIGHER than listed...so your 3200 will behave for DD but if you hit it off the line the higher flash will get you into the r's faster..

when does your xfer come thru? already made plans for shippin the car?

Thanks all for the suggestions! I really think the 3200 sounds like the better choice for me right now. I'm not wanting the fastest car out there and am more interested in a quick daily driver. My car ships on Friday actually!
