Wow. I thought those Green cats from Gesi/Kooks where good to go for our cars. I also watched that video where they said their cats would withstand high temps.

Nice! I am still leaving some on the table as I'm tuned on 91... but I think I'll be ok.

I’d be interested in seeing the tune and datalog of anyone melting the green cats... I feel like there is more to the story.

I’ve been using my same tuner for over ten years with great results, and I can only go with anecdotal evidence. Maybe you can turn your boost up and run at the track with Green Cats to help us dispel any misconceptions you may have. There is only a small percentage of people who actually drive these cars and push them to the limit as intended. Thus, finding what works best and doesn’t. Shoot, what do I know.

I just keep coming back to....there are so many cars from factory like Ferrari, McLaren etc... that make more power than a modded zl1 that have cats and are fine. It's got be the temps people are running because they want to run as lean as possible to get the most gains. Maybe if they ran the same AFRs as stock and kept on that COT it wouldn't be a problem??
I'm not a scientist so I could be totally off track. |

Here is another ZL1 that didn’t do to well with the tree hugging Green Cats.

I saw that CSP video ^
What a mess! Things like that have me convinced Catless is the only way to make reliable power for Forced Induction cars. The thermal energy expended from our LT4 motors is close to 2000' at full send!

I believe the stock headers are relatively good under the 670ish or so whp range. However, larger diameter long tubes flow much better and give better mid and top range power.

My Hellcat made 892whp SAE which is just over 1K at the crank and it did that through the stock cats and I drove the car for 3 years this way. The cats held up just fine, had them off a few times to inspect them. I don't know if the quality of cats vary from one manufacturer to another but the Hellcat cats are VERY durable. That being said, GESI cats are also VERY durable and used only on the highest HP builds. Vengeance Racing uses Kooks headers and green cats in most of their packages. If they were a problem, they wouldn't be using them. |
