I was a bit shocked by the gas mileage on long distance drives. I think the 6.2 is quite good on fuel, when used sparingly. If you are into the pedal, or driving in the city, you can almost watch the gauge go down.

I've noticed if you dip more than say 1/3 throttle, you can watch that gauge drop, entertaining.

Doesn't all highway just mean lots of cars all moving slowly together in that area?

About 3900 miles tracked here via Fuelly with 18.0 as an average. I probably run about a 50/50 mix.

That's kind of hard to do with our 6th gens, my highway best has been 27.

The 6th gens might have twice (or more) as many gears but I'm not sure if the ratios are the same. I'm thinking there was a pretty tall final drive ratio on the older cars.
While the EPA rated MPG may have actually gone down slightly on these cars over the last 20 years, the HP and performance have gone WAY up. Also, the LT1 motors in these cars can absolutely get the same "30+ mpg on the highway" that you reference, but that's a point in time measurement (likely the same as the earlier cars as well) that would need to be considerate of terrain and driving conditions / habits. For example, I could get that sort of MPG driving from the MA Turnpike (I-90) to Hartford, CT along I-84W if I set the cruise at 65 and had no traffic to contend with.

I was thinking the same thing.

For the location, that’s actually really good highway fuel consumption...

My 2SS came with front brake backing plate, cooling adapter thingys. And two plastic covers for the rear trailing suspension arms. All of these are for track purposes. So like you I have put them in a box in the storage shed. As I will never see a track with my car.

I get 13~14 MPG with mostly city driving, but I also have a heavy foot.

Coming from an RX-8, the gas mileage is nothing too shocking for me.

We are making more power than them, though. 455 BHP vs. 310~350 BHP.

Corvettes are also lighter and more aerodynamic, so there is also that.

My best has been 25 MPG with all-highway driving, but there were a few tunnels in between that trip, and you know what happens in tunnels.

I get 16 - 17 mpg putting around town in sport mode (probably should try tour mode). High 20s on the highway but I'm not on the highway much. 27k miles.

Ember 1205 Driving all highway for me means leaving the house at 4AM and leaving work at around 3:30PM. Traffic is non-existent in the early morning and not very heavy in the afternoon either unless there is an accident. I am also lucky enough to not have to get within 20 miles of the city but loop around it avoiding the traffic. The driving distance is equivalent in both directions.

My 2017 2SS only gets 26 mpg at highway speeds.

Is that from the in-car computer or calculated? If it's from the car computer, try slowing down to the speed limit or at least close.

My 2013 modded C6 would avg around 14mpg so not much better. On the highway at a steady 55mph i got 31mpg one time with no stops or starts. My 2015 GT Stang was around 12.9mpg. And i am heavy on the pedal.

I was getting about 21 mpg in my 2016 2SS A8. I traded for a 2020 2SS 1LE in July. My work commute is 94 miles round trip. I drive “the back way” thru the hill country into Austin which means lots of curves and hills (if I have to drive an hour to work I might as well have fun doing it). With the M6 I’ve noticed a big difference in my mileage, maybe getting only 16 to 18 mpg but I can practically see the gas gauge move. I tried watching the mpg display as I drove (not sure how accurate it is) and it basically wants me to drive in 5th and 6th gear all the time to get any decent numbers. I know the A8 had the capability of moving between 4 and 8 cylinders depending on how much foot I had in it. Is this mileage typical for the M6?

If you are still breaking in, then that could affect your gas mileage.
