2020 VS 2021 Question

I am having my 2021 SS 1LE delivered on Wednesday. My question is this...is the 2020 SS 1LE trunk lid the same as the 2021 SS 1LE trunk lid? I want to order a ZL1 1LE wing, and i have found several that says it fits a 2020 SS but says nothing about the 2021 fitment. Any help would be appreciated

1le trunk lid is going to have different holes in the lid than an ss. From what I know you need an ss lid for the wing.

100% correct. If you want to switch to a ZL1 1LE spoiler you will have to acquire an SS decklid and have it painted. The SS 1LE has holes specific to the blade spoiler while the ZL1 1LE has the holes for the stanchion style spoiler like the regular SS.
The hardest part of swapping the decklids is getting the CHMSL out of the original panel. It can be done, but you may want to consider ordering an extra.
Also, if you are going to do this swap, instruct your dealer to NOT install the blade spoiler extensions for the 1LE spoiler.

Spot on. Shouldn't be a difference between 2020 and 2021, but you need the 2019+ stanchion lid (SS, ZL1, ZL1 1LE, or any lower trim that uses a stanchion wing and not the blade/duckbill design) instead of the one that comes with the 1LE

The body shop who is installing the spoiler told me they could drill the holes necessary for the new spoiler, and weld, fill and paint the exposed holes. Are you saying this isnt possible?

Most people just do not go that direction. I'm sure it possible, curious what that would cost.

why a 19+ specifically? Wouldn't any year work?

That's correct. I originally assumed 19+ due to the tail light change similar to the bumper, but the GM parts catalog has the same part numbers for 2016-2021 for the decklid, so any year should fit. Current listed part number is 84568190.

It is possible, just most wouldn't want to deal with the extra bs that goes along with going that route.

Actually, there is a reason. You need to use a 2018+ model year trunk lid. There was added bracing in the 2018+ trunk lids that the 2016-2017 do not have, apparently.

It's on GM TSB 17-NA-310
