I would not let a dealer remove my rear bumper just to do this.

They will most likely do more damage than good.

I have zero confidence in GM's dealership network. I'd rather take it to a shop I trust than a dealer, but that means you'd have to pay for the repairs.

Pick your battles.

Yep, I agree with you on dealers more damage than good. The only person that’s going to try and fix is me. Although, I’m on the fence with this TSB, as it’s not for a 2019. I was on YouTube earlier trying to find 2019 + rear bumper removal procedure, no go. Just not certain what variances there are besides the light fixtures and how they’re secured.

funny that there is a TSB on this! when i bought mine about 200 miles away,I noticed this misalignment issue.
once I contacted the dealer I bought from they directed me to the Chevy dealer in my area to get the estimate, 175 I think it was and they send the money to my local dealer to fix, SS but this is a body issue nothing to do with specific models

Glad I found this thread...same issue on my '18 ZLE. Easy fix though it appears; will give it a shot this weekend

I fixed mine with zipties, and it's held up quite well for years now.

Wanted to share an issue I ran into (and resolved) where the trunk lid would not latch under its own momentum after I applied the "zip tie fix." See this other post for more info:

For what it's worth, moving the impact bar does the trick, as long as the plastic clips are still intact and not worn on all of the upper attachment points. Took me about 2 hours to fix it up properly per the TSB.

So are you seeing no heat expansion in the gap now?

It still pokes out a bit in the 95-100deg weather right now if it sits in the sun for a while, but only maybe 1/16" or so, maximum. Prior to moving the crash bar, it was at least double or more than that when it was in the garage first thing in the morning. Now, it is flush in the garage in the morning, and maybe that 1/16" when I leave work in the afternoon.

...and it came back over time. So, today when I installed dark taillights, I added some zip ties. My new opinion is save yourself the hassle of the bumper removal and just zip tie the darn thing.

Every single camaro does this. Its damn near impossible to stop it. And when you zip tie the sides, then it just bows out in the middle. There is no stopping the bumper from expanding when the car is hot in the sun. Just leave it. My feeling is anything that is "normal" meaning every other car has, Im not going to stress over it. Just leave it alone.

I have this pretty bad on 2022, didn't have it (or didn't notice) on my previous 2019.

Since it seems like the zip tie fix isn't possible on the 2022 since you have to remove the bumper to remove the taillights... Anyone have suggestions? Taking a car to the dealer these days for warranty fixes is like taking your kid to a slaughterhouse to get their diaper changed so I'd rather do it myself.

...aaaand I just found this out for myself. Once I parked it in the sun yesterday, the sides were great but the center had bowed out away from its attachment points and shoved up tight against the trunk. Soooo, this morning I pulled the taillights and got rid of the zip ties. Looks like I'm just going to live with 1/16 to 1/8 poke on each side when it gets hot. Centering the crash bar definitely made it better than it was beforehand though, so I'm glad I did that.
