People don't get it. Many see our illness as showing off or some midlife crisis thing, or worse yet... some overcompensation.

They don't understand the rush from braking down from 160 mph for a sharp right-hander on the track or doing a perfectly executed carve through the cones on AutoX. The don't get the pure joy from hearing the engine howl or the appreciation of technology done right.

I have issues, but I also feel sad for those who do not have issues.
Well stated... I feel the same

Yeah, I get the "midlife crisis" thing thrown at me, here and there, where everyone tries to pretend that I haven't always been into sportbikes, sports cars and sports sedans. My usual retort is something like: "Explaining enthusiast cars to a normal person is like trying to explain the color blue to a person who's been blind from birth. They're not going to get it."

When some guy tells me, "having a Midlife Crisis are we?". That means that they wish they could have gotten a ZL1 but the wife wanted a Mini-Van and his nut sack is in the glove box.

It's called a passion. We should all feel bad for those that don't have one!

If this is my midlife crisis, I'll live to be 128 years old.

If this is my only crisis and so far it is, then I might live to approximately, 99.9999999 years old.

Absolutely no clue on what these "issues" are.

Yup. Went from building models, chopping stingrays (the bicycles, not the cars) and doing jumps to dirt bikes, ATVs, Crap Boats, nice boats, snow mobiles, crap cars, nice cars, fast cars, a friend with a plane, crap jeeps for mudding. 3 trailers because. Track. AutoX. Car shows. Mountain tours. If it is a crisis, at least I have been consistently in crisis

My girlfriend asked me last week if I was still going to have a "race car", as I call them for whatever sports car I have, when I am 75. I said, as long as I can still push in the clutch pedal and can shift, then yes. If Carroll Shelby can do it, then I can.

We've done the minivan thing, while the kids were little and carpools were a thing...but it was the wife's car. She wanted it, not me. Tho...they are REALLY handy to have around, being honest. Pack up 2 small children for a trip to the beach in a Camaro...not a good scenario.

While she had a van, I had a modified WRX, lol. Hey, it had 4 doors..everybody wins...

Yep, I'm proud to be in the 'issues' group! When someone looks at my car and asks me why?, I just answer if you have to ask Then you'll never be able to understand!

Best annolgy I heard was " it's like trying to explain sex to a virgin!"

I knew that I would find a support group here. I think that our 12 step program would include, 12 steps to the starting grid, to the staging line or even 12 steps on the gas, followed by 1 step on the brake for the left hand, second gear bender.

For the record, my friend has 5th Gen that puts out ~550Hp at the wheels, a MINI and a Jeep that he tows behind his motorhome.
