While the Ecm has all the tables/info to run E85 it has to be activated via a tune before you can use it. SO you'll definitely want to locate someone that can flex fuel tune the car either local or remote. I am using Ted from Jannetty Racing for my tuning. You can give them a call @ (203) 753-7223

the tune is unlocked for the e85 and it is recognized in the hp tune program as in working condition..so the tables are in the ecm already.. i was planning to lower my tank to10miles left then fill tank?with e85

The tables are there correct...but they need to be populated with the correct data before putting E85 in the car. For example the Stoich table needs populated with the different stoich ratios for different Ethanol percentages. The entire table is set 14.07 stock. The Flex fuel spark table needs changed as well to make the most power on E.

And no you don't have to run the pump gas down...you can just add E85 and the ECU will adjust the tune for different Ethanol percentages once it's setup correctly.

If the car has been tuned for flex fuel you won't need to empty your tank. That's the idea of having a flex fuel sensor. It recognizes the ethanol content and blends the fueling/spark accordingly. So you can run straight gas, straight E85 and any mixture in between at any given time.

But I can't stress this enough, the car needs to be tuned for it. Yes, the ecm on these cars works with the flex fuel sensor but the sensor needs to be turned on. Also, like KingLT1 mentioned the spark tables need to be updated and the stoich table needs to be adjusted other wise you will be running extremely lean on ethanol.

I think your answer is in the above responses: NO

if your e85 has been activated you should be okay to "get by" but if you have to ask online then I think you should either call who ever tuned it last or spend the money to have it done correctly. dont pinch pennies on something that could cause major damage but thats just my thoughts.

I would just verify with your tuner that they enabled the switch and updated the stoich/timing tables. Can't hurt to double check. Once that is confirmed you should be able to switch back and forth and mix as you please.
