Any photos of the connectors you received? And where you are supposed to connect to?

suction cups and valentine/escort max360. They both work well. the escort can mark locations. the V1seems to have better range and is easier to read at a glance.

Wifi updates with the 360c are nice too (laser traps, etc)

V1 Gen 2 is good but I ultimately chose Uniden R7 because it can do more on its own without a smartphone. My local police has been cracking down on distracted driving pretty hard so I would prefer not relying on a smartphone.

If you are comfortable with using a smartphone, V1 Gen 2 can do a lot more with its Bluetooth connectivity. If you have a V1 Gen 1, they also give you a discount if you send the Gen 1 back.

I'm now curious which wiring kit you got. Here is the one for a 2018 on the left and here's the 2021 harness on the right for comparison. You can see that the 2021 harness has a lot more wire to run up the pillar from the glove box.

It was definitely the one on the right but I seriously don't recall the wiring being that long, maybe I was wrong. I actually got so frustrated with it, this was back in Sept. 2020, I threw it away and decided not to mount my radar detector. Since some of you have said that this harness does work, I ordered another one last night.

I must be missing something here:
  • Buy the 360c hidden cord kit from Escort,
  • mount the controller on passenger side of console near shifter,
  • run cords under the console,
  • splice power into Accessories power at BCM,
  • run detector cord under dash, up door pillar and under headliner to camera area.
  • Mount detector next to camera, plug-in .

He gave me a link to sign up to get notified when they become available if I had the rearview camera mirror.

I had the blendmount for the ZL1 2017. It was not very secure and kept coming loose. I went back to the suction cups on the window.

Mine also came loose once, then I gave the little hex bolts a tougher tightening treatment and it's been fine since then. If it happens again, I'll add a bit of blue threadlocker and retighten.

Maybe it's just me and my memories, but suction cups feel a bit ghetto to me, plus the blendmount was pretty expensive, I want it to work no matter what

Plus suction cups look awful from outside the vehicle. Sometimes its all you got though, we have to use the suction cup on our C8

With suction cups, you have to make sure they are very clean so they stick well.

The Blendmount looks great, but it will probably be more than CAN$200 shipped... Not a fan of that price. Supposedly KMPH has them, I will see the price they can give me.

Yes. My Blendmount worked for a while but they became unworkable. Threadlocker might have helped. I might try that. As it is, it is a pretty expensive item to sit in a drawer.

The tapered shape of our mounting area means the bolts have to be very tight or the unit slips. I tried other ways to get it to clamp better like a little gasket. That did not work. Not wanting to leave the Redline detector out in the open, meant taking it off and on the mount every once and a while. That was enough to loosen things pretty quickly. It didn't seem like a good design for our cars without a constant diameter mounting area.

I had not opened it because I was afraid my Gen5DIY harness wouldn't work, now i see it does, ill get it done in the AM

Thanks for sharing your experience. Turns out, I can't get it easily or cheaply in Canada, so if it's not very sturdy, then I won't buy it.

I was in the same boat, but then my V1 Gen 1 got flooded and so I can't take advantage of the upgrade, and I don't like the idea of using my phone while driving with the V1 Gen2, so I also picked up a Uniden R7.

Just make sure your Gen5DIY harness is made specifically for Uniden. I believe Uniden needs a unique harness as Gen5DIY lists Uniden as a separate option.
