Well shit. Way to destroy all hope. I’m hoping if it is leaking it’s at the TB and not the runners. I bought some gasket paper gonna give it a try.

OK I THINK I SOLVED THIS AND I AM EMBARRASSED.
What I am hearing is what I believe is the CAI whistle from the GM intake. I never heard it before with the (now not so stupid) diverter plate. It doesn’t work with the lt5 TB. So seeing as though I never heard it before, it wasn’t suspect.

SO.... with that said, anyone know how to kill this whistle sound? Do you Roto Fab boys have this issue?

So your MSD had the whistle with the GM CAI? It just wasn’t anything I heard before since I had that goofy spacer. I’m now on the hunt for a rotofab.

I can occasionally hear a slight whistle under load at around 60-70 in 6th with rotofab/msd manifold.

Not surprised the MSD has a whistle, it is very similar to the OEM manufactured part and has the same shortcomings in regards to NVH. That being said, the reason it is so loud with the GM Performance Parts intake is that the filter has direct line of sight to the wheelhouse liner, and through it, right outside into the driver's ear. The rotofab is mostly in a sealed box like the OEM airbox and the box acts as a bit of a silencer.

You could try putting some sound deadener on the inside of the wheelhouse liner if you could get something to stick - might knock down the sound enough that you can't hear it at least! Plus if you switch back to roto-fab you would have to retune again assuming you tuned for the GMPP.

Yea I’m going to try and get a rotofab on it. I think the whistle is the air box not sealing. Also had a thought that the silicone inlet tube was causing turbulent air.

In regards to the tune, aftermarket to aftermarket I’m not as concerned as OEM to aftermarket. Either way I’ll have it re tuned for the 95mm TB and ported MSD.

I really just hate that damn whistle

I've always thought the GM tube sucked, when I looked through it was not smooth and had plenty of flash/material sticking out from the sound tube and oil separator holes.

I’m gonna buy one of those smokers. I’ve gone through the torque specs very carefully. Still sounds like a bottle rocket at 30% throttle
