5th Gen VS. 6th Gen ZL1
Hello Camaro Family,
I own a 2013 M6 ZL1 (mods in sig) and I am currently looking at a few 6th Gen ZL1 A10's. My question is to those who have driven/owned a 5th Gen ZL1 and a 6th Gen ZL1 (specifically A10) how much difference is there? I want to know the good and the bad. Just looking for some input and experiences from other members. Open to all thoughts & opinions. Thanks in advance.

Night and day. The 5th gen cannot compete stock for stock. I had a 13 ZL1, 15 Z/28, 18 ZL1 1LE M6 and now a 19 ZL1 1LE A10. No comparison stock for stock.

I've owned a '12 ZL1 & '15 Z/28 previously. The sixth gen ZL1 is a step in the right direction and is superior in every way. Interior quality is amazing compared to the fifth gen.

It’s a completely different car. My son has a 2013 SS and I rather drive my 2012 Honda Accord.

You can’t even compare. The 5th gen is a dog compared to the 6th gen. I went from a C6 Corvette to a 5th gen Camaro and was disappointed in the handling. A couple years later I went from a C7 Corvette to a 6th gen ZL1 and was shocked at how amazing the Camaro’s alpha platform chassis was. It’s one of the best cars you could ever drive, it handles like a dream and has more power than you could ever want. The interior is also way better than the 5th gen, very high quality. I recommend getting one!

Also owned both and as stated above, they are incomparable. The 6th Gen ZL1 is such a complete package of tight handling, HP/TQ, and comfort. It also looks great and has superior build quality.
There is no bad. Every metric is an upgrade, and some of them are huge. The A6 transmission is a pile of trash compared to the A10. The A10 is crisp, sharp, fast, and brutal when you want it to be. LSA ZL1's were also heat soak city. With the LT4 ZL1, heat soak is not a thing. Now if you start cranking up boost then you can have issues like any blower engine. With your mods and HP of 715, you're in bolt on and E or Meth range for the LT4. You will not regret going 6th Gen. |

I went from a 13 ZL1 M6 to a 16 2SS A8 with MRC. Both bought new.
The 16 SS was faster, lighter and more nimble, with far better interior. My first pass in the 16 SS beat my best ever 13 ZL1 ...and it would do it consistently. A gen6 ZL1 will be on another level.
