I wouldn’t buy one either but they are serviced according to mileage like all fleet vehicles are. I wouldn’t want one because of the abuse they would get by people that rent them!

Keep looking.....with a 35k budget you can get a low mileage really cared for 1LE or 2SS right here on this forum.

If you end up looking for new, I could help you save some $ with my GM Buypower credit card rewards... ~1500. I have almost 3k in rewards off new finance/lease. Theres a promo that ends March 2nd for an additional 1k bonus reward too, but I wouldnt advise rushing a purchase as big as a car.

Definitely think going with a used taken care of 1LE/2SS is a lot better than getting a base 1SS new. The only time I really would recommend considering new is when GM does the nice 20-30% off MSRP deals (which is when i got my now totaled 14 2SS)

Absolutely not! People beat the hell out of rental cars, I could only imagine how bad a performance rental car has been used and abused.

Not to sound like a snob but I wouldn't want to buy any used performance car for that very reason. Never know how much that car has been beaten on. Unless I personally knew the previous owner I would steer clear of used performance cars, and I wouldn't touch a rental with a 10 foot pole.

Powertrain on these cars are rock solid, you'd need to seriously TRY to murder these cars to break them. The other gizmo's however, not so much. You still have bumper to bumper coverage. Powertrain warranty lasts till 65k miles, by which point if nothing happens you should be okay for the long run. All of the issues I've had with my SS were quality control issues specifically from GM not related to abuse / wear and tear.

I would say given how strong and reliable the powertrain is, it might not be terrible.

Don't go for an LT1 if you already want an SS, you'll be happy for a year then you'll be back on this forum asking about options for a 2SS. Slightly used ones are affordable enough, just get certified preowned.

I have to agree with others... People abuse rentals, especially sports cars. I'm sure the rentals experienced many WOT revs immediately after a fresh cold start. Not to mention the abuse during break-in. I'm not saying the car would give you a ton of issues down the line, but why take the additional risk?

You would be much better off with a clean pre-owned single owner. The thought of a bunch of random people driving and farting in my car before me would always be in the back of my mind. But maybe that's just me. One person owning the car before me that likely didn't daily the car, I can live with that.

Exactly ^ I mean I take pretty good care of rental cars when I have them but I would be lying if I said I didn't drive them pretty hard.

I can only imagine what people treat a performance rental car like, especially because they probably don't own one, they might be even harder on it than normal

I think the chances are high that a Hertz Camaro has been abused. I wouldn't do it.

I don't know where you are in NY, so I put in the zip for Westchester and selected within 75 miles. There are a SIXTY used SS Camaros 2016 and newer within your budget at dealerships, including Certified Pre-Owned.

I keep playing with the idea of buying a new 2019 2SS even if I have to stretch my budget a little bit. There is a black 2019 2SS at a dealership that I've eyeballed. They're advertising at $41989 off a $47180 MSRP. I know everything can be negotiated but what would be an acceptable offer for something like this? I know it's been sitting there for a few months.

I would offer them $39k and not pay a penny more than $40k and I bet they would take it...

Just throwing this scenario out there. What would be the likelihood be of a dealership doing a swap with another dealer? I live on Long Island and there are several 2SS's at a lower MSRP out of my area. For instance if there is one with an MSRP 2K lower, would a dealer be interested in discussing a deal? Would I still have leverage considering the Camaro's I am seeing have 200+ days on the lots? I really dont care about options. I do however really only want the leather seats and that V8.
