Out of Warranty, Paid off, time to sell or?
Love my '16 2SS vert M6, she's been an amazing car. I came from leading BMW's for almost 18 years, so never really looked at depreciation, but my 'Maro has dropped in 1/2 over 3 years.
Wife has a Tesla Model 3, and it's a "different" kinda American muscle. Not as visceral, but fast AF and fun to drive. Issues/Q's: Did I suffer the worst of the depreciation at this point, so that driving payment-free for a couple years is my best route? Should I stop the bleeding and sell now while it's still perfect? (<23k miles, zero issues)? Carmax offered sub $25k for my pristine $52k stickered car. . . What are the major issues to expect for their few years, tranny, radiator, valves? It's been great so far, but. . . Thoughts/opinions welcomed. I'm in So Cal, so a droptop Manual V8 is hard to walk from, but trying to avoid a big hit in depreciation and repairs is a priority. . . |

Yeah, sometimes logic escapes me, I rarely own cars more than 2-3 years, it's a "trust" thing. . .

Lol well seems more like a personal decision to me. I got two camaros and a truck and don't really wanna sell my 02 but it would be nice to get more garage space And some extra dough

I'd keep it at this point especially if you love it. It won't depreciate much here on out.

Would you be replacing the Camaro with another fun/performance car? Would it be another new Camaro? If so just hold on to and enjoy your present one. You know the history and the fact that it has been taken good care of and not abused. If you've looking to change it up (to a ZL1 or a Vette?) one option is to look for a very low mileage used car. I found my '17 convertible used with less than 800 miles on it, and it was in perfect condition. Took me a while to find it, but I had the advantage of not waiting until I needed to buy a car while I was looking. I paid 28k for a 44k MSRP car. Look at it this way, you have a great car to enjoy while you are looking, so like me, you don't need to buy one. That's the best time to look. If you only will consider new, accept the fact that you will always be hit with huge depreciation, regardless if you buy outright, get a loan, or lease. |
