2018 SS 1lE vs 2015 Z/28 owners test results
2018 SS 1lE vs 2015 Z/28 owners test results
So here it is....I own both cars now and have had both cars on the track. The ss at least 10 times, the z twice. Probably enough driving in the z to get a good idea about the car. So, I will do this with a points system to announce my winner between the two cars. First, some info on each car. z/28: Katech built motor, heads, cam, headers, intake, full 3" exhaust etc. About 9k in motor and exhaust mods. All else stock. Running on 305 square GYF13rs. Camber -2.0 front, -1.5 rear. 570 rwhp SS: Accelerated racing solutions...essentially same mods. 540rwhp. interior: seats = steering wheel = pedals = shifter = visibility +1 z/28....seems to have bigger windows for some reason infotainment +1 SS...duh, z essentially has none. livability for long drives and daily driving +1 SS exterior wheels = stance = looks +1 Z/28. Z just looks more badass Motor sound +1 Z/28 power +1 Z/28 efficiency +1 SS reliability +1 SS, I think...based on valve issue with ls7 suspension adjustability +1 SS smooth riding +1 SS performance back road driving = track driving = SS is easier to drive fast, but z/28 is more rewarding and raw fun factor +1 z/28 performance quickness +1 z/28 top speed + 1 SS....Z is a brick over 150 with aero road course track times = ....depends on the track and tire wear...very even cars right now, although I am a bit more used to the SS and still learning the z. braking +1 z/28....damn that car stops good! cornering = other factors tire wear +1 Z/28. Don't know why, but SS burns a set of tires after 2 track days at Fontana. Z still has tread enough for 2 more track days. fuel consumption on the track +1 Z/28...surprising but true. fuel consumption on the road +1 SS....less cubes relaxing to drive +1 SS....damn that car is nice on the highway angriest car +1 Z/28....red and pissed off all the time...love it. Car that resides in my garage vs outside +1 Z/28 value +1 SS z/28 11 SS 10 The z/28 is the winner by a nose in my own personal head to head competition! Still love my SS tho!!

I love how the tie-breaker is the fact that you don't have a large enough garage for your toys, and nothing to do with the cars at all.

Nice! The Z28s are really cool cars.
IDK about looks though, imo the 6th gen is so much better looking. 5th gen are huge, blocky and look more like old-school muscle cars. 6th gen look more like they perform.

But there's something about the Z/28 that makes it look worlds better than the rest of the 5th gens, IMO. It's the only one I would consider swapping my 1LE for.

The interior quality and design of the 6th gen just blows away the 5th gens IMO. I do love the idea of 427 cubes, but those $6000 brakes kill it for me as well. Pretty awesome that you own both as I've heard the Z28 is quite radical to daily drive, so having it as a toy is the way to go!

I laughed at this too. I also find it odd that he feels the Z28 has better visibility. All the reviews say the 6th gen improved on the 5th gen's famous visibility problems.

When you have to come up with a reason for your Z/28 to beat your better cheaper SS 1LE.... shrug.

Curiously I liked more the muscle car look of my red 5th gen ZL1 compared to the newer 6th gen SS. I park them side to side just to compare them.
