Camaros are not the only vehicles that depreciate fast in the first few years. That is why I would never buy brand new anything. Buy CPO and get a better warranty and save about 10k minimum. 52k on a new SS seems steep to me, you could of got a nice low mileage ZL1 for that.

That being said, since it's paid for I would keep it. No way I would take 25k on trade, you are invested now. Might as well Throw an Magnuson or Whipple supercharger on it and upgrade the fuel system. Time to party!!

Take a 2SS convertible and start adding options and it can easily get over 55k MSRP.
I agree CPO is worth looking into.

Op...it doesn't sound like you are held back much financially from enjoying your life, and the idea of trading cars every 2-3 years sounds like you're having fun, if you really like your 2SS vert then I would say trade it for a ZL1 vert, I bet you would absolutely love this car!

Should I stop the bleeding and sell now while it's still perfect? (<23k miles, zero issues)? Carmax offered sub $25k for my pristine $52k stickered car. .
First off your car has not dropped in price by 50%.. you guys kill me when you start what I call Lazy sale math..

Did you pay sticker for your car? ... I hope not
Mine listed for almost 50,000 I paid 40,000.

What is your car worth private sale? I would guess 28,000 to 30,000 at the very least.
That’s your true depreciation of your car, what you paid vs private sale.

If you trade it almost all states allow the buyer to only pay taxes on the trade difference which helps off set the trade value which you did not included.

Hope this helps you feel a little better about your car.. also comes down to if you can still afford it, drive it and enjoy ownership..

Agree Gunkk with your reply! I know I don’t regret trading my 2016 2SS in and getting that 2017 ZL1!

Wife has a Tesla Model 3, and it's a "different" kinda American muscle. Not as visceral, but fast AF and fun to drive.
Issues/Q's:
Did I suffer the worst of the depreciation at this point, so that driving payment-free for a couple years is my best route?

Should I stop the bleeding and sell now while it's still perfect? (<23k miles, zero issues)? Carmax offered sub $25k for my pristine $52k stickered car. . .

What are the major issues to expect for their few years, tranny, radiator, valves? It's been great so far, but. . .

Thoughts/opinions welcomed. I'm in So Cal, so a droptop Manual V8 is hard to walk from, but trying to avoid a big hit in depreciation and repairs is a priority. . .

I have never in my life bought a car I liked and then worried about depreciation. The nickel and dimeing is not worth it unless driving some boring junk like a Toyota or something. The Camaro is a performance car, just enjoy it.

I paid $35K for my $45K sticker 2016 vert. Only has 13K miles. Value is showing close to $30K on a private sale. heck even at $26K which is below trade-in value that's only a $9K loss which is $3K a year. No concern about depreciation for me. First of all a $35K car can't depreciate all that far. I think the key is buying these cars as low as possible - eventually they lock into certain price points - $25K, $20K, $15K. It's pretty hard to get $35K or more out of any used Camaro unless it's a ZL1.

Sure beats the hell out of what I've seen on a 2013 Panamera S that I bought CPO two years ago. I'm looking at $15K loss on that car in 2 years.

But it's only a loss if you sell it!!
