2017 2SS, Your experienced tire size opinion please!
Morning! Ok I think I've read every post on here about tires and rims, heard about rubbing the strut, what pokes out, I've looked at the pics - those who post pics with full deets of rims and tires, thanks! I'm just making the final choice of which way to go. Here's the car:
2017 2SS Fifty, Nightfall Grey. She has mag ride control, and is stock height, I have no plans to lower her. She is not going to the track, maybe the odd drag strip, but just a cruiser. I just like the look of bigger boots in the back, ideally lined up with a couple mm's of the fender. My 2 Rim choices, color black: MRR M650 or MRR M228 staggered 10/11 x 20 23/43 offset Tires: Nitto NT555, all the below sizes are available, I like the tire. I know the 285/30 305/30's fit. height 26.7f 27.2r So I'm just thinking of filling the fender gap a little, as well as just having a little more rubber for our rough roads, so the other options are: 275/35 305/35 27.6f 28.4r too much height diff for the computer? I can't use the 285/35 as it would rub with MRC, correct? That was my preference. 275/35 315/30 27.6f 27.4r rear too short, 35's would be too tall? Ok please bring on your thoughts on which setup you have / like, much appreciated! |

285 30 20 or 275 30 20
305 30 20 or 315 30 20 but may have to move harness

275/35 and 285/35 are very close to OE diameter/height if you want a little more sidewall. This is my winter tire sizes on the OE wheels. I wouldn't go 305/35, it's too tall over stock IMO.

Thanks guys. I had a good chat with Darren at MRR and I'm sticking with the tire size that was meant for the car and the wheel, ie the factory ZL1 285/30 and 305/30.

I would search here or google "camaro6 stabilitrak" and see which tire size combos are known to cause errors. then look at the combos recommended here, provided they are not on your "might cause errors" list.
I would do the double check before spending your $$ because there have been several recent threads where members seemed to have exceeded what the car will tolerate. |

I just put 275/35 and 295/35 on my 2ss with mag ride. mrr m017 wheels. looks good, rides good. no rubbing or stabilitrac issues. no giant wheel gap either.

I'm going 19" and saving my OEM 20s w/ SC3 for the track. SC3 are awesome tires, just not so awesome on the street.
Looking at 295/35/19 and 305/35/19 Michelin PSS. I could also go with 305/30 and 325/30 PS4S, although it would be best if my wheels were 1/2" wider for that combo, it is within range. I can't decide on practical but more than good enough vs less practical and more overall grip, also PS4S is a little better vs PSS... tough choices, lol!

Now...can we talk about how Nittos are overpriced junk and that you should seriously consider other options? How do you plan to use the car, and in what types of weather (will it be driven in below-freezing temps, rain, etc.)?

Continental ExtremeContact Sports are only about $60 more for a set of four than Nitto's latest and greatest (i.e. least shitty) 555RII. Those Nittos are realistically track tires (100tw). The Contis are about $270 more than the Nitto 555G2s, which are a summer-only street tire. But the Contis are virtually identical in performance and quality to the PS4S in both dry and wet grip, tread life, and noise/comfort, and will be an order of magnitude better than the 555G2 in all of these aspects as well as basic quality (e.g. staying round). For an all season, the Conti Sport Contact 5P is $120 cheaper than the EC Sports.

why would you want to use the 19s for track use and the 20s for street use? i have 20s right now and keep looking at 19s but just cant figure out if i want a staggered or square setup and what tires/size to use for track use
