I'm in a quandry. I reinstalled my motor after adding a cam, lt4 fueling and a few more goodies and for some reason the starter refuses to work. When i push the start button, i get a message stating Action Required to Start Depress clutch Pedal. Obviously i am depressing the clutch but the car doesn't seem to know it. All i can figure is i missed plugging in a connector somewhere.

I checked the starter fuse and swapped the starter relay with an identical one that was for a vacuum pump or something. Still nothing. I even unbolted the starter and pulled it away from the flywheel, grounded it and hit the key, it didn't do a thing. The battery is fully charged, the motor turns over easily. I just cannot figure this out!

I did load a new tune from Ted Jannetty prior to attempting to start the car. I wonder if it's possible that something related to the clutch / starter switching is not turned on?

I should probably mention that the battery has been disconnected for several months. I reconnected it and put it on the charger a couple of hours before loading the tune. I saw on youtube where sometimes gen 5 cars do this - the fix is to pull a fuse wait a minute or so, reinstall the fuse, roll the windows up and down a few times and you're good to go...shit like this is what i hate about modern vehicles.

Unhooked the battery, let it sit all night, hooked up the battery and she fired right up. Go figure. Like most electrical issues, i fixed it, or it fixed itself but i don't know how.

Like the corvette C6's. They are fickle a$$holes unless they have a completely topped off battery. All types of weird stuff happens with low voltage on these cars.

Man just another snag for you to deal with! You have to be chomping at the bit to get it fired up! Hope its all smooth sailing from here on out for you. You have certainly put your time in on this build.

Sorry guys but it looks like you’re going to have to wait until this evening on the idle clip. The firewall on my work PC blocked the file and I can’t seem to add the clip using just my phone. I promise to add it as soon as I get home! The idle sounds about perfect to me, it’s only very slightly more aggressive than stock. On the video, it’s almost an imperceptible difference, but in person the trained ear can definitely pick up on it.
I’m anxious to start working with Ted on tuning. I’m still going pretty easy on the motor as virtually everything is brand new; I also need to get my JMS boost-a-pump installed before hammering on it too much. I can certainly tell that it’s a lot stronger and as an unexpected bonus, the drivability on Ted’s initial tune is far better than it was before. The dead spot I had experienced when transitioning from no boost to boost is 99% gone – I have to really search for it with the throttle now where before it was borderline intrusive.

I give up! Can someone walk me thru how to post a video clip? I recorded ever shorter clips on my phone, copied them onto my laptop, then attempted to upload using the attachment manager function. The upload, regardless of the file size would progerss to exactly 91% complete before the laptop would freeze up. There has to be an easier way. For anyone brave enough to try to help, bear in mind that I'm old!

Done! This one deserved it's own thread! See JRE smooth idle cam thread. Clip is pretty short as I deleted all the longer ones trying to get upload using the attachment manager.
