Opinion On ZL1 Front Bumper Conversion On SS

Hello, I'm just popping in to ask everyone's opinions on a ZL1 Front Bumper Conversion on my SS. I have plenty of people around me saying that it would look sick, but before they're opinions I thought it would look "Fake" like I'm trying to have a ZL1, but In reality I just like the bumper's aggressive design and aerodynamic capabilities. I know plenty of online stores that sell conversion kits and I'm sitting here deciding if I should or not. My brother in law said that it's a bad idea and it'll look like I'm trying to hard to have a ZL1, but I'm not (BTW this is the person that said that taking off the front quarter panel's emblems off makes it look stupid!) I want this bumper really bad and I already know that a majority of you will comment that it doesn't matter what they say do what you want, but I just need some extra validation and besides I have a Summit White SS and I honest to God believe it will look awesome!

Feel free to voice your opinions, and if you guys have any recommendations on where to get a kit that'll be awesome. Thank you!

Is your BIL drive a Camry or something? Sounds jealous. It's your car and your money. I wouldn't do it, (I don't like the idea of making my car look like what it isn't,but that's just my opinion), but again, it's your car. I didn't buy my Camaro because I care what others think about it.

I just saw this posted in the Blue Velvet section yesterday. This car looks amazing and since it has a SS hood and emblems I don’t perceive it as looking like a ZL1. Just don’t put ZL1 badges on it

It will no doubt look like you're posing, but then the question is should you care or not. I understand you want the aero advantage, but if you care about what others think (and why else would you have started this thread, heh), some people may give you a hard time.

BTW if you do the bumper, you might as well switch the hood, too, the SS hood doesn't go too well with the ZL1 bumper, and air extraction may not be as efficient as with the ZL1 hood. With the big front splitter I'd also consider the wider standard ZL1 spoiler for balance, it's a drop-in replacement.

Personally, while I wouldn't mind a bit more airflow from the front, especially with the Maggie, I simply can't stand the vertical DRL orientation. Just my opinion, though.

It’s your car, your money do as you please. Only sheep follow, don’t be a sheep.

The vast majority of people will not even pick up on the fact that you have a different front end. Someone already pointed out the fact, just don’t add the ZL1 emblem and I am sure u would not.

I’m planning on doing the same to my Summit White SS, and I like the ZL1/1LE canards too, so I’ll probably end up going that route. I certainly didn’t buy this car to make OTHERS happy....Screw ‘em!

I like the ZL1 styling better but not enough to spend the money to change my SS.

If you think it’ll look awesome then just simply do it. A lot of people with 5th gens have done ZL1 bumper conversions and there is never any talk of posing or anything like that. Don’t badge as a ZL1 and it’s not posing.

i think it's a great idea. I wouldn't bother doing it to a 16-18. The 19 is a different story. Big drawback though would be cost.
