ZL1 1LE Track tires

Ok guys looking for input. I got 5 tracks days out of my first set of 3R's. Very good tire after it gets hot. The front tires corded. The rears are good for another track day or two. I purchased another set of 3R's but I am wondering if there is another track tire out there that would give me the same grip as the 3R's. Not looking for street use tires, track only. I have a complete set of rims and tries I change to for street driving.

I have a set of Hoosier R7's and a set of Pirelli DH slicks that I will be trying. After that I may use another set of 3R's or try Toyo R888.

I was thinking Hoosier R7's but they do not have 19 inch for my rims.

I take that back. They do have 19inch R7's. That could be a good fit. Wonder if they can be swapped from side to side.

Do you think the 315's on the front would cause an over steer issue?

Only way to truly find out is to try it. I think a 315 r7 will be fine though.

Tnspd...

Yep, the 315 R7 Hoosiers work great. See this thread for some details on both tire and wheel fitment.

www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=507167

Switched over to Pirelli DH slicks 305/690/19 at all four corners for my last event and they worked great also.

Like the Hoosiers performance....but not so much the $2k price for 20 heat cycles (4 track days). Have a set on my backup track wheels but may stick with the Pirellis from now on.

Thanks for the link to the post. Good info in there. I talked to a friend of mine that has a Corvette set up for time trial SCCA runs. He runs Hoosier R7's and A7's. He told me he can swap them from side to side and dismounts them so the outside is now the inside to get more out of the tire. I was thinking if I go 315's all the way around I could do the same thing.

Yep, I flip them inside out and front to back after a track weekend (10 heat cycles....most of the HPDE events I run have five sessions per day) and then go hard the next weekend. But, after 20 cycles they significantly drop off in performance. Most I have ever gotten is 23 heat cycles before they completely lose grip. It isn't that they wear out or cord, they just get hard and lose all sticky.

They are fantastic tires, but I've never gotten more than 4 days of track time consistently.

Anyone else here use Hoosiers with different results?

Most are using Michelin PS4 for daily use.
