Engine cover paint burn off

Hey all, new here and have a question. The CAMARO on the engine cover is burning off. The paint is flaking off. Left side more so then the right. Any fixes recommended? Thanks

Eventually they all flake off. Some guys here redid the letters with heat resistant paint. Alternatively, I still have my stockers, you can take them off my hands (and with them buy a little more time, heh).

Mine are doing the same thing. I’m having them replaced under warranty at my dealership.

My car is silver and black, so when mine started coming off I just removed the rest of the paint with brake clean I like the look as those letters was the only thing that was red on the car

Ditto, mine is flaking off at 19,000 miles. I'll just repaint with high temp paint like everyone else.

Rather than deal with the factory paint that tends to flake - I decided to add some colors of my choice with all the engine covers. All the paints used can withstand the high under hood temps.

Chevy will replace at no cost if car is still under 3 years / 36,000 miles

Okay, I like it, looks good! I have a Riverside Blue Metallic car, so it's a little different than your Hyper Blue Metallic. Just got it a few months ago...
  1. What paint did you use (high temp, but what brand)?
  2. How'd you do it?
  3. Did you use clear coat over it? Sorry if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about, it's because I don't.
  4. I guess that cover just pulls straight up off the engine? I don't want to pull it off and break it. It's three pieces? Maybe there's something on removing it somewhere...

What paint did you use (high temp, but what brand)?

A: I used the spray paint in the attached photo to paint the silver/gray parts. I had River City Creations (currently not in business) paint the blue parts and Camaro letters. They used Hyper Blue auto paint.

How'd you do it?

A: All the silver/gray parts I painted myself using the rattle can. I cleaned all parts using rubbing alcohol and then sprayed 3 coats

Did you use clear coat over it?

A: No

I guess that cover just pulls straight up off the engine?

A: The blue parts pop right off. The center silver part requires removal of the studs that hold the blue parts on and cutting some zip ties (no need to replace the zip ties - they were factory overkill as the wire bundles held by the zip ties are not going anywhere). The silver/gray lower parts (ignition coil covers that look kinda like valve covers) were the hardest. They require a Torx #10 bit and some patience to get on and off.
