CEL taking to dealer need advice

So, I'm bringing my 1LE in for P0446 issue. I'm going to assume that they are going to jack the car.

Should/can I ask to watch to make sure they jack car correctly?

I keep seeing horror stories of dealers using wrong jacking points causing damage.

Anything I should be concernes or advice of things to look for in advance?

Video cars current condition before it leaves your possession, inform service advisor about proper lift points and make sure they take care of your vehicle and you don't expect to see any damage when they are done.

Have you ordered ZL1addons lift pucks yet?

If you take photos before handing off the car, make sure to get good shots of the side skirts. Other than that, it is tough to document the bottom side of the car without it being already in the air.

Speak to the advisor, take him outside, show him the zl1 lift pucks, warn him of the potential conveniences etc.
At my dealer they use a special ramp for my car. And just this specific ramp. But then again my advisor treats my car like it is an exotic and personally supervises the techs. Needless to say, couldnt be happier. But thats only if and when i dont take it to my regular hi performance mechanic. If they damage your car even if you take pix to prove it - it is too late. So develop a good understanding/relationship with your advisor and dont let anyone else lead the work.

Thanks guys, I literally had dealer take pics, and make special note for advisor to NOT lift the car. I think she probably thought I was psycho lol. Tried to explain the hacking points but she was not very technical so I checked to make sure she put it in the paperwork.

This is really good advice! I have not brought mine back to the dealer yet, but definitely have the same concerns.

It's a shame that some dealers have this reputation in the first place though. Isn't almost every car they service, every day of the year, lifted while they're doing the work? How can they not have the equipment and know-how to lift the car properly? Or are we mainly talking about carelessness on the part of some techs?

I switched from BMW to Chevrolet, and maybe I had a good dealership, but I have nothing but the highest praises for the quality of service at BMW. I never worried a bit about bringing the car in for service, and it never had so much as a grease spot when I got it back.

So just an update for those who end up searching P0446 and want some kind of resolution.

Dealer:
Vent valve has failed and is failing to seal the system closed. Vent valve needs to be replaced.

Tech:
Installed 22740537 : SL-N-SOLENOID (03130-BCKT)
4027890 EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CANISTER VENT SOLENOID VALVE REPLACED.

Car has no CEL light and no jack damage so I'm happy.
