AFM Simulator - Headers - CEL

Currently I’m collecting parts for catted header install. Since the car is A8, I’ll lose the AFM valves and bought the AWE AFM simulator bracket. With these brackets I shouldn’t get a CEL.

Here’s my list:

Headers
Heat tape
Motor mounts
Exhaust tunnel bracket
Coolant
SP wires
SP socks
Zip Ties

Are there any other items I need? I don’t want any permanent codes or surprises.

What year is your car? If it’s ‘17-up then shut the header and AFM related codes off before you install any of that.

Updated my profile and yeah it’s a 17. Okay I’ll shut those codes off. I thought those AWE plates would’ve at least kept the AFM codes happy. Thanks!

The plates will prevent the AFM codes.

The other codes that need to be taken care of are the emissions codes from removing the stock cats and going with headers.

I just recently purchased a 2017 and after finding out how much effort is involved in putting headers on and that you can get permanent CEL codes if you don't do things right, I decided its just not worth doing headers.

And I love the sound of the factory exhaust with the NPP system.

Now if I were to eventually put a supercharger, I would likely then put a full exhaust at the same time.

Good luck with your mods.

Thanks for your input. I also like the factory exhaust with NPP. A supercharger, fuel system and converter are the last items on my list. We put the same headers and motor mounts, going into factory suitcase, on my friends 6th gen last year. It wasn’t difficult and it does sound good.

So I ended up getting a set of Kooks headers with cats and had my car tuned by David Griffen with Grifftuned outside of Indianapolis.

He tuned my E-force supercharged C6 Corvette Grand Sport and did a great job.

I have been blown away with how well the LT1 engine responds to headers. Gained significantly above 5000 rpm's. Power and torque are maintained for significantly longer.

Nice job! Did you install the headers or get the shop to handle the install? Also, did you keep stock exhaust after the cats?

I bet it sounds better with the headers too.
