REMOTE vs. DYNO TUNING

Hey team, I am late to the remote tuning tech, and will soon need to make a decision on what to do with my car.
I am about to install a RotoFab, Soler 95mm TB, ARH full system + HF cats + AWE catback + Flexlink E85 kit + Colder NGK plugs, wires etc...

I have heard amazing things from JRE and others for remote tuning.
and wanted everyone's 2 cents on if remote tuning makes sense for the mods i have or should i wait to find a local dyno tuner...

Let the debate begin?

Bolt on tuning is pretty straightforward no matter how you slice it. Nothing wrong with a street tune in your case.

You'll end up with a faster car if you tune it based on logs made from pulls on the road versus on a dyno.

I don't know about faster but possibly better all around drivability sure.

I personally like to do a dyno tune first then go to remote tuning to clean it up where it needs it, if it needs it.

Initially I was planning to do a remote tuning, but then I found out that I absolutely need to use a wideband AFR gauge and this includes fitting the gauge itself inside the car and adding a bung to my exhaust pre-cat for the wideband O2 sensor. I am not going to need the gauge for my daily driving and I don't like the looks of having a gauge in my car. Therefore I decided to avoid all this unecessary hassle (and additional costs) and I will go with a local tuner.

i think: the more complex it is, the more important it is to be on a dyno. i think you will be fine with a remote tune. also consider, just because something is dyno tuned does not automatically mean it's going to run good.

my car was dyno tuned and then verified on the street afterward.

The saying goes a Hammer does not make a carpenter.

Whether you dyno tune or street tune, it is the experience and attention to detail by the tuner that makes the difference.

I can get exacting results in either situation.

I used the exact same process whether the car is on the street or on the dyno.

In a production atmosphere I can do a lot more in a shorter amount of time on the dyno due to not dealing with traveling to a spot and traffic, finding a place to pull over to make changes.

Street tuning takes longer but the end results can be better in many cases just due to real situation tuning.

Ted.

Any tuner worth his salt will be welding a bung in your exhaust before the cat.

Proper tuning is done from Idle up, Not Full throttle down.

Hey Ted... Looking forward to receiving the remote tuning kit and voltage booster you sent me last week... I just got the bung welded yesterday, and had the exhaust quieted down a bit while there... car sounds much better but still runs like crap. Cant wait to get it tuned
