Highly optioned LT1 vs SS or 1LE
Out of curiosity, I went to the Chevy build site to compare some 2022 Camaro lease prices (6.28.22, no 2023 pathway on website), no options. 6spd manual Coupe, base color. 48mos lease, 10k miles/yr, $0 down, 1st pmt due at signing LT1: $397/mo 1SS: $608/mo 1SS 1LE: $715/mo 2SS: $684 2SS 1LE: $790/mo The no-option premise varies from the "highly-optioned" premise of the thread. However, that logic doesn't consider the base for which options are "stacked." Stacked is the operative word, because options easily bloat any lower trim line price above a higher trim line. The original thread premise does not propose a meaningful comparison to me for this reason. Although the 2SS 1LE is my dream car, it doesn't fit my family budget. Even 1SS (no LE) doesn't fit our budget. So, there is (was) only one choice of a new V8 Camaro for me. Having driven it 5mos, instead of dreaming about something unattainable, I made the absolute right choice with LT1. And, Camaro LT1 is my favorite and best car I have owned. I'm a proponent of 1LE variant vehicles. But, I just really enjoy cars that handle well.

1LE has MRC standard, while on the SS it's a $7000+ option. The non 1LE non MRC SS's have the same non MRC suspension as the corvettes. Not sure about the LT1's though.

The LT1 and the SS have the same suspension. You just cant get MRC as an option on the LT1, like you can on the SS. So yes, in terms of handling the difference between the SS (without MRC) and the LT1 strictly comes down to tires. |

LT1 has SS Suspension, 1LT rear brakes. MRC is not available.

GM has the code of my Suspension being FE3 for the LT1 and it is the same as an SS that does not have MRC option. SS 1LE has the FE4 suspension code. According to GM site where you can build the Camaro MRC is a $1695 option. |

And there's more. The 1LE is a little dropped, stiffer springs, stiffer anti-sway bars. It's more about the entire suspension package, not just MRC.

I guess fe4 shocks, springs, sway bars would be about $1500.

The non-1LE suspension (FE3) is indeed different from the 1LE (FE4), and MRC calibrations differ between them as well.

Arpad is right. MRC is just $1695.00 option. You could also get the 1LE Suspension Package for $1995 more ($3690 for both) and get almost all the suspension goodies off of a 1LE, minus the electronic differential, for almost half the price of the $7000 1LE package. However, that package is only available on SS trims or higher.

The 1LE package isn't for everyone (I love mine) but once you start optioning for things like MRC and suspension upgrades it doesn't take long before just picking the 1LE package gives you the best bang for the buck.
By the time you spend $3,690 for the 1LE suspension you're only $3,310 away from the cost of the package and that extra $3k+ gets you quite a few goodies. The ediff alone is worth that, not to mention forged wheels, HUD, etc. |
